I would say the clio will leave the rs turbo standing on the line and by the time the rs is up to speed the clio will be too far gone.

i was thinking my bros rs because its a nice healthy one but them 2 are sitting on the fence.should be a good race as their both pretty nippy cars and the clio revs to 7900 rpm would you believe,if rs loses were putting his old head with the piper cam in and having a rematch ha ha

The clio will be quicker off the line and top end imo!

The Clio's making 181bhp@wheels which is about 210bhp@fly, plenty claim to but not many RS turbo's are actually making 200bhp+ from a simple chip.

standard clio i'd say RS but sounds like the clio has had a fair bit of work so i think the clio might win judging by the spec of the RS you've mentioned- RS might pull it back top end but i doubt it.

You obviously don't look on ebay mate? They are ALL 200bhp with just a chip!

the clio will win because it sounds like its been set up lately

and the clio has had alot done to it by the sound of things but alot more can be done to the escort turbo

Clio will be fast, but to have a clio 181 at the wheeels it must have had some decent mods done on it. To see 200+ at the fly a clio needs to be running wild cams or ITBs. Or have been RRed on very nice rollers.

A clio with 181bhp @ the wheels would piss all over it, in a straight line and in the bends

im not sure on full spec on clio but from what my bro says its next level of tune would be throttle bodies or a turbo.when he picked his car up from k-tech they took him in their turbo one that has 260 bhp

I took my mate to brighton to buy his clio 182 two weeks ago as we were coming back along the motorway doing around 70 i was in fifth so was he i told him to put his foot down to see how quick it was compared to mine he dropped from fifth to fourth and i just planted it in fifth and watched the boost gauge fly round and the clio lights get smaller and smaller in my rear view, retro power will never die! safe to say he was sick as a parrot 7k on a clio and still cant beat my twenty year old rst!

I'd say a standard 182 clio would beat a stage 1 erst. Having owned both I can honestly say the clio is far more refined and quite happily sits at 140mph (indicated), which is most likely a lot more reliable than the erst speedometer!

Would have to be a well sorted and modded RS to beat the clio. Off topic....Been in a mates new 197, pulls like a train, and handles like a go-kart. Old ford has more character

imo the clio would piss on the rst. having owned both. the clio should have it of the line & top end + once over around 4500k revs the clio's are quick cars. k-tec are renault specialists so id belive the claimed power.

which 182 does he have? ff, cup, trophy or poverty spec?

clio sports are capable of a genuine 140mph, got a video of my clock reading 145mph & the shift light just came on, i think 147mph would be tops.

That sounds lik a rapid Clio and the RST is at most average. As much as I love my RS's I would put my cash on the Clio. Tell him to stop fannying about, spend some money on the RST and wipe the floor with that French tat

AFPMSL at 180 at the wheels.

We had a K-Tec 182 on the rollers on our last RR day. K-Tec had 'mapped' it 'live'. (ragged round their estate for 5 mins) and told the guy that it was 'about' 197bhp. It never went near any Dyno with them though.

Guess what it made on our rollers??

169bhp!!

(and thats a Flywheel figure).

Ive driven a few 185 clios and they go well. I can remember playing with 1 in my cossie and on the corners the clio was kicking my arse i just couldnt keep up with the clio but as soon as i got on a straight i just flew past the clio.

that would be a 182 clio then glenn.

big diffrence though over 200bhp from a cossie to a 182.

but saying that when dan first picked his saph up i gave him a good run for its money in my old clio 182

aj- your s2 probly would beat it but thats with an aclaimed 20bhp more at least.

i know my old fiesta would piss all over a 182 having had a run in with plenty.

Depends whats been done to the S2. I went out in a 172 on track last week and it was a massive let down, especially after the amount everyone bigs them up.

Idd our track clio goes round corners like its on rails and if kept high on the revs is very quick.
My 182 road car is amazing in the bends but the AST's give the track car the edge (on smooth tarmac)
