Default Do I need an MOT/SVA?

Looking for some advice...I've got the chance at a cheap car off a mate... problem is that he bought it to take the vtec engine, box etc out and stick it in his non vtec coupe as a conversion. He's put the engine from his coupe back into this shell. Its pretty much running perfectly apart from couple of electrical probs, but is obviously still registered as a vtec model with grp 15 insurance. What do I have to do to register and MOT it as the cheap, small engined car that it is now? How much is it likely to cost to sort out and make 100% legal? Cheers, Grant
