i think u can get one but u have to sign up to the hd service which is a tenner extra a month.
could just do that and u get better quality and a bigger hard drive.

You can buy them without contract from www.dreamboxshop.co.uk but you will pay full price. I got mine from there and installed it myself a year or so ago.

You just need to ring Sky and give them the serial number and card number and they will pair it up.

you don't HAVE to take out the hd subscription, just get the cards matched up

i'd swap the hard driver over as per a thread on av forums, but i'm not sure what they are on about when they say you've got to partitio the hard drive with something

So you can't record two programs at once and watch a third. I think I'll stick with my V+ box.

you cvan only record 40 hours on the normal sky+ box
you can record 80 hours on the skyHD box in SD
but only 20 hours worth of HD programs

if i replace the sky+ box with the skyHD box upstairs theni gain the extra 40 hours worth of recording ability PLUS i get to record the sounds as well and not static

sorry for any confusion

the sky+ system has 2 inputs so you can record 2 seperate programs, but you can still watch a 3rd recorded program

as for the extra bits of hard drive, it's for the sky anytime fuctionality

Just pay a tenner a month and get multi-room. Your hardly going to miss the tenner but you get all the channels again
