Cool mini..auto to manual conversion

just got hold of a mini 1000 auto, i will be putting in a 1275 engine and gear box and what i want to know is what are the differences in the shells and subframes. can the original subframe be used? is the hole for the master cylinder already there? any other things i need to know about?

the subframes are different, thats about all i can remember, it must be 15yrs since i last touched a mini..

you can use the auto subframes, you need 10mm spacers on the engine mounts IIRC. Everything else is there i think.

You will need a new primary gear as well, as these are different, but only around £55 new, subframe as said hardly diifferent, unless it's a gas suspension one.

Sub frame puts the engine slightly furthur forward and needs a spacer on the engine mount...

Tabs - why would you need a new primary gear? And Gas suspension? Do you mean hydrolastic ie fluid?

I found when I went from a 1000 to a 1380, these are a few different types/teeth primary gear, not saying 100% it will be the case but can be, yes hydrolastic, or gas, as that is on one half of the diaphragm in the sphere.

Arr yes see what you mean.

The block block def has a different primary gear - but I think this guy is dropping a whole engine in and not converting the engine....

It must be 25 years since I did mine, so memory faded a bit, but do remember a two week hunt to get right primary gear, as had to hire a car from rent a wreck(WW), whihc promptly broke down, after 170 miles.
