Default strut retaining nut...rounded

was removing front shock today and when i tried to slacken the Strut Retaining Nut the torx piece in middle of nut rounded...
got strut off car

any tips/ideas on how to remove?

If you have access to air tools, try an air gun or a battery inpact gun may work.

Failing that, depending on whether your replacing the shocks, try gripping the shock rod and undo the nut.

you could also just cut the nut off. best way if you can get one in there is a nut splitter. got me out the shit many a time and causes minimal damage to the thread!

managed to get the strut clamped in a vice today and got nut off.now i wont be able to grip it properly with new spring in place so if i didnt get it to bang on where it was before i was going to add loctite to nut.this should be ok i pressume?

Can I sugest you replace the strut? Given that the end is now damaged.

i wouldnt say its totally fucked....its not that old and you can get a torx bit in to hold it but i just dont want to feck it altogether so id rather tighten it the last bit with grips or summit to be on safe side.
