Default Taxing a car, no V5

is this possible?

am i able to tax a car with no log book, im certain you cant but surely theres got to be a way in which i can do so!?

i dont even have the small green section as being a new registered keeper, as the whole thing has been sent off for a number plate change.

i think my organisation on this hasnt been thought thru before hand, Doh!!

Providing you have the green part of the v5 that should have been given to you when you bought the car, and have insurance and MOT cert then I think you will be ok, but will need to pop into the local post office

but then something tells me you might need the reminder

Well actually that post was no help at all LOL

You can do it online providing your cars insured/MOT`d but you will need the doccument reference number from the V5 or your reminder!

I always take a copy of the Logbook and MOT before i send mine off to the dvla.. just incase this happens.

You/he can tax it using the reminder but it will go to the old owners address instead of yours.

However as you just bought it ,this might be easier and quicker for him to send it straight to you once he has the tax disc.

I did it this way when i bought a car from a friend and it needed taxing.

you cant tax it online as you need to be the registered keeper, otherwise they will send the taxdisc to the last owner.

You're going to have to wait for the new V5 to come back in your name after the number plate change & owner change notification has been completed before you can tax the car

You wont be able to tax it online as details of the car will still be registered against previous owner & not in your name
