Depends on conditions, if you lock all 4 wheels in the wet yeah you travel further (generally speaking), in the dry not necessisarily (sp)

My advice to you is to ignore everyone on PF who said said you should be done. These mutants don't let facts get in the way of a good slandering match. When I had an accident, nearly all said I was in the wrong. They all laughed, and said I was fucked. Next thing I know, the accident was delcared their fault. It only takes on so called expert on here, and the rest to jump on the bandwagon.

People on here are know it all, know nothings mate. I wish you all the best.

Benni.

the guy who had the accident is the only one who knows what happened

a judge will decide how much pain and sufferieng he is going to inflict on you

Havng hit a fox a few years back. Can I point out that I didnt sweve. I just nailed the brakes (not fast enough for the stupid fucker that wrecekd my front fog light!) I dont think many people actually swerve in that situation. The instinct is just to brake. Heavily if you are panicking and maybe lock up.

if something runs out in front of you, you are either going to brake or swerve to avoid it if you are in your pride and joy

if i was in a bus or a lorry i'd still be inclined to do the same even though i'd know there wasn't a lot of chance of anything running in front of it and surviving

each case has to be judged on it's own merits, so when you go to court, dress sensibly, have a sensible hair cut, don't wear any jewelrey and stick to the basic facts of what happened, fox ran out, you braked/swerved to avoid it, afterwards you were invovled in the accident

Have you got any images of the carnage as that will help put your side of the story across and make it sound more believeable.....hell something needs to!!!

I mean did you totally cave the sides of 5 cars in before coming to a stop 100 yards up the road or did you just glance the first 4 & come to rest nudging the 5th cars wingmirror thus cracking it!!?? LOL!

If you hit the 1st car hard enough to rip off your suspension etc how the hell did it manage to keep going and hit another 4 if you were only doing 30mph?

You mustve been carrying serious momentum to go into the rest and IMO no way you were doing 30.

Also on 11 points you maybe need to chill a bit anyway.... swerving for a fox is not safe driving.

This car actually a hgv?
Would have thought writing a car off at 30mph would take a bit of sting out the speed lol.

You need to get an independent engineers report who could then be called as an Expert Witness, to back up the possibility that what you say happened could happen.

a driver pulled out infront of me and i writ off both cars and damaged a wall and i never got done for speeding.!!!! also i had nine points with 3 due off the next day

i went to court got free points and keep my licence as i have a disabled parent that relies on me! and since be back and got exceptianal hardship again. i now have 15 points and scared to press the loud pedal. but it's better then getting a bus. defo get a solicitor mate

were does it mention wheel dragging? i agree is the wheel had impacted and then folded on to LOCK the drag would slow him down.. but it does not take much at all even a light tap can snap a track rod which these your steering gone! as for the 5 cars.i would have said it ( depending on first impact angle) that it would be believeable to scrape along those cars had he not smashed at, lets say a 45deg angle which WOULD have slowed the car alot quicker.

your not going to hit 5 cars at 30 unless you carried on accelerating after you swerved and if you couldnt manage to stop then you are driving to fast for the conditions considering there was a row off parked cars alongside.

right guys to clear up a few things!!!

It was pissing down! THe raod was soaked, i hit the first car right on its drivers rear wheel, which i think might have pulled my front left wheel around and it had ripped off the linkage, steering, brake pipes, droplinks etc. the next two cars we actually thought i had missed but it looks like the front wheel (tyre) has rubbed the side of them it was the next two cars that took the brunt of the damage, i hit the fourth pretty much on the corner and squashed it right in and it has slid down onto the next car and sraped all the side of it,

1st car - damage to rear drivers wheel area,

2nd and 3rd - very light damage (we didnt even realise it had hit them)

4th- substanstial corner damage old rover (will be written off)

5th - damage down the right side will need door skin and wing etc.

my car was a 530i sport bmw, when i hit i lost all steering, the wheel litterally spins around forever in any direction as it has been ripped out of the steering rack! So i couldnt avoid the cars, it was like going into a big puddle and getting dragged in further! The cars that were parked were all parked bumper to bumper in the street where they always are. I am insuraned and have about 6 years no claims and have 11 points because i gained them within 4 days of each other 2 1/2 years ago on my bike which turned out to have a faulty speedo! ( dont want to get into it, tried to proove it but cops wouldnt help etc, shit happens, just took em and thought keep my nose clean!) I am quite a sensible driver in my car but i am an experienced biker that is starting to race next year, so yes i am a bit of a nutter on it but not in my car!

hope this helps oh and of course i am going to say i was doing 30 but when the cops asked me what spped i was doing i told them the truth and said 30-40...........hope that helps guys.. x x x x x

thanks for the advice ..............honestly..

I do, but Cutch I don't believe is an insurance assessor, so by meaning written off one would presume a fair bit of bent metal, not a broken headlight.
