Default Painted Intercooler... advice needed.

I have a double capacity intercooler on my turbo, (it had a goodridge sticker on it, but i thought they made brakes and lines ). i got it from a scrappy and it was painted matt black. i re did it quickly to look neat and fitted it whilst my bay was apart. but i've been thinking its the worst possible colour cos it absorbs so much heat. Should i try and take it off and get it back to plain alloy? and final questions what product could i use that gets all the sticky mess off straight away, cos i cant get into the fins. Will it have to stay matt black now?

cheers, Joe

black not only absorbs, but radiates the heat most effectively if you are talking solely about colour. however, i suspect that the colour of your intercooler is not going to effect the cooling that dramatically until you are talking very high performance. but if its black its going to hide itself well, and not show itself to suspecting thieves!

Well its fitted to my orion, not an s2 so its a little bit more stealth anyway.
But thanks, i was gonna try and do something with it whilst it was apart, but i probably wont bother now.

if you do want to try and get the paint off, only way i can think of is to submege it in a big container of thinners then hose it off.

then paint it again lol
