Default Auto Electrical question

Just brought back a 7" fully motorised in car dvd player from usa. now i cant get a pro to fit it for a week so i was going to do it myself but, it says one wire must be connected to the hand brake lamp ,so you can only view the screen when stopped, can i connect this wire to the cigarette lighter for instance and be able to watch it on the move ,or at least the passengers

Yep. So long as there is an earth on this wire (so it thinks the handbrake light is on) then the screen will work.

Edited cos i put live instead of earth
