How do these work exactly and whats the downside to them? i understand the toe in toe out but why didnt ford fit these?
Thinking of ways to improve launch, striping interior and have touring car slicks. Dont want to spend a grand on a rear beam either.

oh right dont even know what they look like haha ![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
so just pushes the of the wheel out to gain possitive toe in !
but does it help with the toe gains and camber gains and losses as the weight if the car lifts off the ground ? this is where the beam takes place right ?!
but these are good for the road car as they arnt going to be leaving the floor much lol ? ? ?

it doesnt change camber at all, the issue is the suspension toe angle moves when you accelerate,
std they are staticly parallel, but when you drive it becomes toe out, this causes tyre wear, shit grip, nervous handling.
the shims give static toe in, so when you drive it becomes parallel
adjustable beam is the ideal solution

Pair of thin washers on the bolts either side does exactly the same job, no real need for the shims, also if you do that, you can actually get the thickness that you want rather than just defaulting to 10 thou.
Best thing you can do is measure your car first, to see what you actually need.

Adjustable arms are not exactly hard to make, even ford did this, so you can have camber and toe adjustment.
I fitted the shims from mike r, they are defo worth £10 and made a difference in mine.
Ford could have made a bigger difference in not producing such crap to start with though, the stuff was just std parts bin stuff, and should have been a lot better from the start.

I've got a set of these to fit to mine but I've not had time yet
How long do they take to fit?
It's interesting hearing that they make a real difference and I really want to get mine fitted

Twellsie, read what is written, I said even ford did this, but go on to say correctly that they never fitted these to the cossie.
The reason they did these was for rallying, a simple affair with a tube welded to each end of the arm where the normal mounts would be, the outer mount tube was upright with a rod end in it which could be moved up or down in relation to the arm, and so adjusted camber, the inner one was horizontal so movings it's position, increased or decreased the toe.
I'm just saying it was a cheap simple idea that could have paid dividends for the cossie, but fords declined to do so, this was down to cost, many other mundane cars have rear adjustable geometry, even the GEO PRIZM(toyota corrola) I was under had this, nothing more than a eccenctric washer and a stop, but did the job.
Personally I think ford could have done a lot better suspension wise, with adjustability anyway, as the cossie was way ahead of anything ford that had gone before as a std road car.
It's not down to anyone being thick it's just business at the end of the day.
