I was advised allowing a stronger spark would allow bigger gaps, which therefore allows more ignition advance

no more high boost mis-fires!

hoooow many times have you heard coughing, poping and spluttering cossies when they got big power and still on dizzy... lots!

must be so frustraiting when that happens half way up pod or something when you hit boost in 3rd... coilpack is the key i think!

Wouldn't have another cossie without wasted spark or closed loop.

anything is more reliable that a spinning rotor arm

its just modern technology; ideally individual coil packs would be best per cyclinder but that's a whole different ball game

Does anybody know whats done to the rev counter when you do the coilpack conversion???

I ask as my puma cossie has a normal puma dash and reads revs fine on a dizzy set up. (bear in mind a normal puma has a wasted spark coilpack system!)

Coilpack setup on a YB is one of the best things you can spend your car cash on IMO

I have coilpack on mine, but not msd, it is perfectly possible to have high power high boost without misfires, if everything is as it should be.
Larger gaps do not give a bigger spark, but the coilpack is more effecient, this generates more electricity, much like just putting on a ACCEL coil in place if std one with dizzy etc, I have the ACCEL on my cossie coilpack.
Larger gaps came out primarily for weaker mixtures, I run my coilpack at 0.5mm, but if I had any spark out problems would just increase the coil build/on time, currently at 3.03 ms.
Big power was still being produced years before coilpack came about, coilpack is cheaper to produce which is one of the reasons why makers did it, along with effeciency.
Any coilpack imo is a very good thing, but it's not gauranteed to solve misfire issues, unless you know what is causing it.
The ACCEL coil for anyone interested is about £65, and part number 140018, it is the early type coil with the lugs on the tower posts, NOT the later type without with much taller towers, the only thing you need to do is removed the seal from the connector on the coil, it just prises out.
It defo made a differencer idle was more stable than a std ford coilpack especially when cold, and just seems more eager.

I never suffered misfires with a grp a coil, dizzy, decent leads made by Ahmed, decent plugs and a decent plug gap. Peaking at 2.5 bar boost and didnt have issues. My new management uses 4 individual coils
