Default F150 Lightnings, anyone know anything about them?

As above off to look at one on Wednesday to possibly buy. Been after one for ages but never had the balls to bite the bullet and do it!!!! I know they are going to be ridiculous on juice but i must have one!!!

Anyway are there any real things apart from the obvious that i should be looking for when viewing it? Are there any things that are prone to going wrong?

If its not the one for me i'll be carrying on my drive to Bristol to get a 350Z!!!!

Yeah had a look on adrenaline's site but no buying guides etc.... Did email danny a while back when i was looking and had a brief chat so dont want to keep wasting his time!! Might give him a quick tinkle in the morning though!!!!

Heard they are rather lively on track, not sure on the mpg on there though!!!! The chap that owns this one said that 4mpg isnt impossible if you really give it some!!!! 18mpg on average he reckons though so no worse really than a cossie / evo i'd say!! (stll trying to convince myself!!!!)

They are the dogs dangles, as fast as most performance cars, rwd and the torque is the best bit!! some early ones had a problem with the heads and spark plugs,im sure theres an f150 owners club in the us, thats worth a look online, my friend has one, around 480bhp mark however his gearbox has just gone, but that was more to do with pulling a van on a trailer and given it some beans with a audi TT (which i know isnt the quickest off all cars) but towing that wait and over taking him on a slip road is quite impressive.

As long as its been look after which most have as there treated more like cars then working trucks there good as gold. There great motors !!

ok cool cheers, this one seems alright, its a facelift 2001 model in silver with 48k on the clock, the guy has owned it 5 years (older chap) and seems genuine enough. We'll soon see, going to look at it tomorrow morning!!!!!

my firned has a f150 lightning harley davidson limited edition model - its the 4dr version.

fucking quick too. used to give the cossie a run for its money off the lights but after 60mph it was goodbye the truck was running approx 340bhp too so not too shy and would hit its top speed limiter (135mph irrc) easily.

yeah i like the quad cab harleys but a little too big for me, plus a little bit slower than the lightnings!! Think they are limited to 155mpg with 380hp (2001->) and 450lb!

There was quite a good buyers guide in FF mag a little while ago. I may still have it somewhere if you want me to have a root through my old issues?

In truck sense though (as payload goes) the f150 is miles ahead isnt it? (not that i'll be pulling things!!).

I do like the SRT10's but they are still 20k, not 10!!!

A bloke i work with has a black one, just look for service history and see when all the belts were last changed , he's just got back from the states and bought all the belts etc why he was out there

Bloody fast though when he puts his foot down

Chris
I done a buying guide with PF mag using my truck so look it up also I give loads on info on a buying guide FFmag done so thats 2 buying guides. if you want to keep it factory buy a late one but if you want to tune it get an early one and have a motor built for it, We can supply a suitable short motor for 800hp for very sensible money.
