i dont know the max flow of l.blues but greys are 504cc. but with l.blues you can get 400bhp if its mapped properly. with greys its a lot easier.

On standard fuel pressure (3.5 bar base)...

Light blues 400 bhp
Greys 430-440 bhp

Ultimately it will be down to the ecu map that makes the best of it for power
and/or economy. Not many mappers can make greys run economically !
(Stu can !)

Also, injector size is not just about BHP, the maximum rev limit of the engine
can effect what type of injector you use.

mmm I see.

And I take it that if I was using greys every day the fuel ecomey would be shocking (unless its mapped by stu! )

Tuners/mappers that pay attention to the whole map not just the top end power
delivery are few and far between !

Ultimately, who ever maps the car will decide what injector is required.

If you are just expecting to plug in an "off the shelf" chip for greys
then the chances are it WONT pass an MOT.
(From my experience)

I would always recomend a live map for ALL power upgrades no matter
how small or big the end power result is.

Ok cheers for the help guys. The car in question is running light blues at the mo with a t35 turbo, low comp, standard cams, polished and ported head, 500 cooler etc. Just wondering what the next stage would be for the car

1000cc injectors (Good for at least 650 bhp) are ONLY Ł350 a set.. PLUS
a BIG Ally inlet manifold Ł300 ish .

ALL that cheaper and better than 8 greens/rs500 set up anyday ! (IMO)

8x greens are good for round town also cos the way they are setup, unlike the other injectors which will only use alot more fuel when driving round town and not racing

Sorry mate, this IS a myth. Injectors provide fuel based on the map.
If the map has NOT been set up properly fully across the whole
working range (not just top end power) then this may be true.

I just dynoed a 632 BHP engine on 4x1000 cc injectors.
It ticks over smoothly and at idle and off boost the lambda is
around 0.98 to 1.03 (Very good in case you dont know)
This WILL pass an MOT test no problem.

So as above. I take it that the 1000cc injectors are not a direct replacement.

Sorry for the lack of knowldge here peeps.

Yes they go straight into the existing fuel rail/manifold BUT
you need a bigger inlet manifold back box for more than 450 bhp

But up to 450 they would be fine. So this would enable it to be done in 2 pahses get the injectors first. Untill a bigger turbo was sorced and then add the new manifold once done

It should be not much worse than a standard cossie as this engine has
quite a high compression ratio.
The engine managment runs closed loop lambda fuelling control
upto about 8 psi boost.
Yes, it will use loads of fuel under high power outputs but that is obvious
as you need fuel to make power !

What a LOAD OF BOLLOX

I use 4x 1000cc injectors, make over 600bhp BUT off boost run closed loop lambda controlled fueling on my SECS Ecu for excellent fuel economy.

and as for your previous post about 'greys being a waste of money????'

WHY?!?!?!?!? 4 greys are great for 400bhp.. why go and over complicate things with 8 injectors when 4 will do the job?

Yes, very funny... BUT I actually find it quite annoying when someone puts up a post asking for advice and someone just talks out of their ass!!!

If you don't know, don't answer! or at least say something like 'not sure but I think....' or 'I am not an expert, but I think...'

Surely EIGHT 803's plus the loom, inlet, throttle elbow etc etc would cost a shedload more than 4 big injectors, a large inlet back and a decent map??
PS: I want the engine in the pic porkie!!!
