Those were the days eh 
The pic reminds me of a rally I went to a few years back. A car had snapped it's throttle cable, the co-driver jumped into the engine bay and controlled the throttle by hand, while the driver had to lean out of his window to see past the open bonnet !!! Feckin' fast they were too, nutters !!!!!
