Default buying a shappire cossie 2wd

still dont know if i should buy a moonstone blue shappire?

its only done 54k on a f plate 88, rust? what rust its no rust on it at all! (always been garaged) it has a few scratches on the body and the bumpers really need spraying. its 280 bhp with a turbo systems conversion and has a koni suspension set up. magnex exhaust, mint interior (for age). all mots from new and full ford history, engine runs 100% and drives exellent. the owners had it ten yrs and does about 1500 mls a year in it.

hes wanting £5250 with 6mth mot and 1yrs tax on it.

do you think its worth it?

whats the bottom price for a shappire as they must be worth so much in spares?

oooohhhhhh i just cannot decide! help mmmeeeeeeeee

CANNOT STRESS THIS ADVICE ENOUGH MATE, passenger side rear chassis rail around the coil spring etc remember , its the chassis rail, if a saff is goin to rust beyond repair its there, believe me i know , see my sig and 2 of my mates, one with a 35k 2wd concours car has the same prob, chassis rail rotten, cant get em anymore so ya knacked, you must get under the car and poke the rail with a screwdriver at any rust on the rails ,coz if it goes through its fucked and fixing it is a massive job, so dont be shy, check check and check again

btw i would expect a minter (not concours though) of a 2wd saff for £5250, shouldnt need painting and should have loads of history and bits for that price in my opinion

cheers- thanks for that.

this 1 does seem to be a genuine unabused example and when looking undearneath there was not a sign of any rust on the sills or anything-but i will check the rail b4 i buy.

looks like another look is in order.

to be honest mate, you must take the car on its merits, if the car aint rotten there chances are it wont be rotten anywhere, this prob doesnt only affect shitters it really dont, mine was a 90k shitter and was rotten, my mates has done 80k and his has been a concours car for years and his was rotten, my other mates is a 35k concours car underneath and is pristine in every way and his is rotten, the prob is its double skinned and rots from the inside outward so you cant tell untill its too late unless you prod around and make sure the metal is good, its a design fault from ford and its got nowt to do with how clean the car is its wether or not, its a time bomb , so make sure its ok mate
