RM or CR 250? gonna treat myself
Promised myself another crosser since selling my old rm125 when i were 16, now ten years later im ready for another.
Want to spend about £1200 ish so 03/04 bike. Any views on the 250's around those years?
cheers

i did 11yrs out of motocross 23-33 and unless you have ridden one you will be pleasantly surprised cr 250 for deffo mate, but i would say that coz i am biased.i had an 02 250 ex cas bike.it was pretty quick, did the four stroke 450 thing and when honda said no more 2 strokes after 07 i had to get one.there dead easy to identify.02 onwards are the RC valve bikes, and they are pretty much the same to 04. on the frame numbers(headstock) there is an M before the last six digits.you need to know the number before the M.that gives you the year.dont be fobbed off.on the CR check the power valve cables are correctly adjusted and there is not loads of play in them.get one and you will love it. here is my 07 you should get an 02/03 for your money.if you need more info and i can help PM me.

Me and me mate went halves on an 03 (we think) RM250. Its my first bike and scares the fuck out of me. Has been proper reliable (touch wood) and the performance is something else.
Id literally done probably an hours worth of riding on road bikes like Dt125's in fields before i got the RM . It was proper step up getting this beast. Proper love the scarey buzz it gives though

Its not that bad once your used to it. I use first gear to literally pull away and then go straight into second. If you nail it in second its still poo your pants fast for me though. It seems to either just wheelspin or wheelie when you nail it lol
I proper love it but I show it loads of respect as im a pretty shite rider. Ive improved a lot since having this bike though and riding all the local motox tracks. Can hang the rear end out a bit now round corners and feel a lot more confident

To be honest mate, unless your racing and using it too its limits, you wont be disappointed with either bike, or any of the major 4 jap bikes at that.
I used to race with a KX, when id say 80% were using CR's. I prefered the KX to the CR by far. Its all about personal preference when it comes to bikes. You cant say which ones 'better' as they are suited to different people. When i was racing the CR's were generally seen as easier to ride, which is why most went for them. Performance wise, there all more or less the same, its how you use it that counts.
Im out of the racing scene now, but just got a road legal 08 WR450 to play around on. The WR is very similar to the YZ with a few minor differences to help out on the green lanes. Ill be taking it out on track every now and then for a blast. Cant wait!
Nice and dirty, how it should be!

Im just back after 7 years off riding and ive gone for the CRF450... bought a 04 and loved it so bought a 07... had the suspension done and put a full pipe on it now anda a new seat but no pics of it after the work was done....
Defo easier to ride than 250 2 stroke... smoother and less tiring.
Out of the two tho defo go for Honda... RM's suck.
My CRF..

kx250 love them, had cr,crf,kx and had a shot of yz and i would only ever buy a kx again, new rms are good but older 1s a dont think there so good . imo

id say out the 2 get a cr,personally im a ktm man,but keep away from 4 strokes there ticking time bombs,if a 2 stroke goes tits up costs you about £300 for a rebuild, yes they might be easier to ride but if your after reliable fun go for 2 stroke

ive raced ktm club
had kx 490,yz 490 cr 250 cr 500
husky and now have a yzf 426 supermoto road legal
ktm was the quickest
all the bikes were 2 stroke apart from husky and yzf
think the cr 500 was best ,was funny getting it out of the van and mates asking for a go and on hearing it and seeing it go they always declined
i taught my girlfreind to ride on my cr ,crazy bitch
get any bike youll enjoy riding all of them
