Possibly going to buy a gartrac gearbox for my rwd saff later today, he says its a direct fit as it comes with all adapters etc.
How can i tell if its genuine or not? will it have a different casing?
cheers

If it was made by Gartrac I can see it being something along the lines of a Type 9 for early escorts or mk3/4's with their RWD conversions using a live axle. nI'm not sure why you would want to replace a T5 with one if that is the case.
If it made by Getrag then that would be a different matter...
You need to get more info before spending the money!

The box was built by Gartrac engineering & was used in their rear wheel drive mk3/4 escorts usually powered by a 2.8 cologne engine. They are built to stand bhp in excess of 500. I have used one of these in my tarmac stage mk2 escort running a cosworth engine generating 470 bhp (after destroying 2 T5 boxes!) Very strong...comes complete with a cosworth bell housing & prop end so you can put it straight in. (you will have to have the gearbox end of the cossy prop swapped for the gartrac one...10 min job with correct tools)
