GT30 the new T34????
Following cossie richies thread is the GT30 the new T34 for the cossie??would it be worth fir example putting a GT30 on a completely standard engine 205 or 200?i know richies was very close to standard!why are these turbos becoming prefered to the T34????

so is there any gains on switching from a T34 to a GT30 on a standard engine with either block?

well yeah it has more horsepower potential, but you might not be able to take advantage of it.
i mean you can whack a GT35 on a standard 2WD cossie (i mean BOG standard, no changes no nothing) but if you wound it up to 400bhp something'd break

As long as you adressed the fuelling, i'm not sure it would break.

for how long on a standard engine
i presume the gt30 comes in alot smoother and is not as punchy as a T34?

Why would it providing it was mapped correctly with correctly specced injectors etc?? People have strapped T4s on standard engines & got 400bhp without things breaking!!
Doug beat me to it!!!

std 2WD cossie?
std intercooler, std headgasket, std breather, etc. etc. etc.
how long you really think that'd last with a GT35 and 2bar shoved thru it

much better flow rate and spool up quicker due to using a roller bearing core
as doug said(garage 19) cossy's have joined the 21st century now with better mapping, cam sensors, siemens injectors and gt series turbos, its just evolution, and not before time,
but best thing about the gt's is external wastegates with screamer pipes, you got to hear a cossy with this set up to understand what i'm talking about

You would need no where near 2 bar to make 400 bhp.
I still think it would be fine.
The HG MIGHT give up after some mileage but that is easily solved. The rest of the engine internals can stay stock.

Richs engine is not totally standard, this is what people have to remember.
Rebuilt engine, lowered CR and valve pockets in pistons, Grp A head gasket, BD14 inlet cam, Breather.
Its not like he stuck a GT30 on a 100k mile YB and hoped for the best.

What were the physical engine differences between the RS500s & a standard 3Dr/Saph other than the 8 injectors, ECU, T4 & larger intercooler then??

if you only wanting standard then stick with the t3, but as you've already got a t34 then standard isn't standard is it, just depends on how far you want to go realy,
btw did you get that noise fixed?
what was it? oil pump?
