Wisdom tooth - now been removed ouch
Went to see the oral surgeon today and he took an Xray of my teeth so i sneakily got a pic while i could
as you can see the left wisdom tooth is impacted vertically and growing backover into my jaw, but its stuck in its position due to my jawbone and the right one is impacted horizontally
Surgeon said the left one will be the hardest one to remove due to the positioning and i have to have general anaesthetic as he said it will involve a lot of cutting of the jaw to get it out
Booked in to get them both removed under general anaesthetic on 10th November, right in time for our wedding anniversary on the 17th
Cant say im looking forward to it, the surgeon said expect extensive bruising due to how hard they will be to remove

yep just a tiny one, dentist commented and said due to the fact ive never lost any teeth means its more likely you get impacted wisdoms due to none falling out and giving them space to grow
I was quite pleased ( in a way )

funnily enough neither do i, but thankfully ill be out of it so wont be any the wiser, he said ill be injected with local anaesthetic before i wake up so will just be given a concoction of pills to take home for pain.
No solid food for a week either, will do the weight loss the world of good

I've only had one filling too, and all my teeth are still my own.
I'm a bit worried now 'cos my wisdom teeth are still hiding.

yeah i remember you posting on the thread about it before, my gums keep getting infections cause of stuff getting behind the wisdom teeth so thats main reason for them being removed, not forgetting the pain

I had similar one removed only 1,5 months ago, and another one is planned in a month or so. I didn't have general anestethisis. The procedure itself isn't that bad, it is what comes afterwards what is bad. Prepare yourself for not beeing able to eat for several days at all and you will most probably need a couple of days off. I was as good as dead for a week and another week "semi-operational" It still hurts from time to time after all that time but it's almost healed. I had to go for changing dressings every day too for like 2 weeks. I hope next one will be a bit better.

You've got me thinking now, just been reading up on them.
I guess I'm special then, 30 next year.
Adults can have up to 32 teeth. The wisdom teeth are the last to come through, right at the back. They usually appear when you are between 17 and 25. Although sometimes they appear many years later.

Oh and my jaw muscles hurt like hell for couple of days - the surgeon used a LTO of force to get the tooth out, was really amazing to see slim lady-surgeon have so much strengh in hands.

[quote=Azrael;3653874]I had quite complicated op too, cheek cut frm the jaw-bone etc. quite messy and bloody. But the op was fine, I only coughed from excessive blow-flow several times, but the surgeon was talking to me all the time and saying funny things as well as there was good music, so it was OK. I don't like the idea of general anesthesis as it is always slightly risky even if your are healthy person.
I felt very bad for at least 10 days, and I couldn't really open my mouth for about 2 weeks. I was told I wasn't healing particularily well or bad, maybe a little under avarage. the good thing about only one at a time was that I could try some solid food after a week or so on joghurt using the other side.
You must animal surgeons/dentists in poland

That x-ray looks similar to mine. I had 2 of mine out a few weeks ago but refused to be put to sleep as i'm a wimp. The next 2 are the really impacted ones, but after having the first 2 out, its definitely worth it, so much less pain already.
Hope it all goes ok
