I agree!
But have you ever tried claiming money back for something you've bought online/over the phone/mail order on a debit card? The Consumer Credit Act doesn't cover them. Just ask those poor folks that paid cash/debit for a holiday and the firm went bust when they were at the airport!
Just pay it off before you get charged interest.

I think its funny all the people that think Credit Cards are only used by those that want things they can't afford to have.
If you're smart, you can make them work for you. For example, spending on them, to gain loyalty points, then paying the balance off each month as you go. Therefore you never pay any interest, but you get the benefits.
These days you have to take what you can get.

That the americans owe 850 billion altogether in credit card debt-average of nearly 10k dollars per household?
How could this possibly cause a problem.............

I have them incase of emergencies, you don't HAVE to use them but if god forbid something breaks down like your car, washing machine or whetever and you've just paid for a holiday then they can come in handy. I don't condone running up thounsands however, that's just silly. Each to their own.

my brother tried to borrow 5k euro here in april to change his car and was refused-makes good money but missed direct debits the odd time
He was given a credit card with a 3k limit in may (owes nothing on it) having asked for it thinking it would have a 500ish limit for emergencies
Rediculous

Which credit card companies are going down then? Will they end up with Egg on their face? lol.
Or will they be drawing in all outstanding amounts?

Hello, can we please elaborate on this crisis.........
I myself do not have one but people close to me do, can we all just stop beating around the bush and explain what is meant!!!!!!!
Plus I consider myself good at information finding and have hit a brick wall with this!

Quite simply I need one. As it's always possible I get stranded in a forgien country somewhere and need to fly home. Can always pay the balance when I get back. Now, WHAT is this impending crisis???
Are ALL credit cards going bust? Cheers.

We're all paying for credit cards one way or another as the shops get charged 4% when you use them so they add that on the prices. I get 2% cashback so I'm still losing even though I've never paid a penny interest on any of my 6 cards.

I buy most my things on a credit card.
I just swap the credit card to a 0% for 12months one every year or so.
I always pay the balance just before the 0% ends.
This way the cash that I have in my bank is earning interest, so the credit cards help me gain financially.
At all times though I have the money available to pay the credit card off in one lump sum.
