I can confirm that the N96 can be debranded by using the same prog (NSS) and method as the N95

Dave, when they come they have the network software on them - this is always behind the nokia generic firmware update that is released as they (the networks) fanny around with each update before they release it.

You just use a program called NSS to change the product code on the phone (thats that code I used). You then use the normal nokia software updater, which recognises it as a now generic nokia software version, and updates it accordingly.

Always back up the phone using the nokia software first, as you lose stuff like contacts etc (I always save contacts to simcard anyway!!)

I've got mine on T-Mobile... Flext 50 web 'n' walk plan.

Online discount etc brings it to Ł45 a month, phone is free. That's quoted as "Ł350 worth of calls and texts. 1750 mins, 3500 texts or any mix you use".

Along with 'unlimited' internet usage, can't remember but think they define 1GB as unlimited, although IIRC if you go over the 1GB they charge you Ł1 a day maximum, up to a point of Ł10 maximum a month for extra access.

I am on Orange Dolphin which suits me fine. Unlimited texts, 900 free Min's and 3 magic numbers. (Free anytime anywhere) Ł35.

But i fancy upgrading the phone from the N95 to the N96 and cant get through to orange as they are busy and Ive no time to wait.

 

Ahh... Thought you meant 'on contract' as in actually 'on contract'

Had a look in town yesterday out of interest and they were at Ł595 or something silly.
