best cosworth tuners in scotland????
where would be the best place to take a sapphire cosworth to to have some work carried out on it up here in scotland? who does mapping etc etc. seems to be loads down south like NMS etc but not sure of up here. also im looking at a car that is fitted with a stage 1 chip and -31 actuator which claims about 270bhp, how easy is it to get the car up to around 330bhp and how much are you looking at? cheers.

Andrew dosent map cossies (yet) but he does everything else. There is AVA i personally dont like ava but they done well with euans car
|
don't think anyone in scotland maps webber marelli ecu in cosworths,, but maybe wrong,
i usually fit upgrade parts with an off the shelf chip from harvey to suit |
ava all day long for engine work/mapping, or andy if your needs parts fitted or big mods done.
maybe a blinkered view but i really dont see why anyone would even consider going anywhere other than ava for mapping. in scotland that is |

AG.motorsport without doubt.
took my escossie to ava to change my gearbox as andy was very busy and they ran car on rollers after i told them not to!!!and blew engine up. took car to andy and he rebuilt engine and box......problem free after that and what an engine. |
197 miles from Edinburgh to Blackpool by road.
:top: |
just a quick q being nosy :DD:
on the ag focus there is on the shopping list on the door the name fred crawford, now i remember a fred crawford from ireland who shoved a rs500 engine in a mk2 escort screamer when i wasn't old enough to drive, them were pioneering days when the 2wd sierra cos was still a showroom car. is it the same fred ??? |

i've been to most over the years to set up my cossy's
had a bad experience with ava once:cry: that said been there loads of times and only ever had 1 bad experience with them so maybe just bad luck they are very expensive imho andy g's doin good stuff just now, usualy good with prices as well couple other places around as well but think i'll be goin to msd for a live map when mines ready gonna be worth the run down as i've only ever heard good stuff about them:god: just depends on what your wanting done realy pm me what your after and i'll give you my advice on the best place (imo obviously) |

As said above no one in Scotand can live map the standard ecu, or atleast no one that i found when looking into it.
If its a fairly common spec get an off the shelf chip from one of the tuners down south then just get the car checked over and set up, up here once its fitted. |

a drive down to blackpool is surely a bit excessive for a run of the mill stage 3 isnt it? maybe beyond that id head south but for an off the shelf job someone local like dastek in fife , falkland performance or rjm in glenrothes would do the job.theres star performance in kirkaldy as well. .g

but falkland are years out of date and star have never had a good rep(not my own personal experience) and as for dastek, i wouldn't let them service a fiesta, was talking to the guy that claimed to do their mapping:tiff:at crail couple years back and was nearly rolling about the floor laughing at the joker, he clearly didn't have a clue, i knew more than him :blabla:and i'm no expert at management systems but please feel free to make your own mistakes as i dont want to start tuner wars:? |

cheeRS stu I've been to AVA 3 times now I think, and I'm not convinced by them, they seem to have some customers who are very happy but I expect they are happy because they have told AVA to do everything, rather than just a setup. I went out of necesity and I wont be returning, but thats probably cause I'm moving to Sussex and will be learning calibration myself over the next 2 years. JAmes. |
