Don't think RS autmotive are still in business. these were the Kara & RS automotive cars as far as I know: http://www.rs200replica.co.uk/

these people are doing a cosworth powered one: http://www.sportsandleisurecars.co.uk/index_003.htm

iirc kara from years ago split up and the 2 geezers went their differant ways, 1 continued to build them and they or his buisness was called DS Engineering.

the Kara was made with subtle differances though i would of just done it the same, ford don't seem to care if sombody makes copy parts for mainstream cars so why would they object to a kit car ??

yeah did ford complain that companys made fake gt40 reps etc etc. ??

you go to ford and buy brakes/suspension/exhausts etc and then go to halfords or your local trade motor factors and buy them, why don't ford complain about that, its not their stuff but companys don't give a hoot and flog non oe stuff.

any way whats the differance between standard and evo rs200 bodyshells?

i think they Kara thought they may get a tug on copy right and changed it a bit

any way whats the differance between standard and evo rs200 bodyshells?

The original factory evo RS200 had lighter fornt and rear clam (thinner layers of fibreglass) there were also some modifications to the chassis to get the evo engine, water pipes and radiator to fit.

well i hope someone sees the sense to build a lhd replicas as i reckon they would sell to the european boys who remember the fella in my avatar.
i think if you saw a lhd rs200 rep you would be more likely to be fooled especially if it has gllomma papp on it or karcher viking dekk etc

Website is under construction. A message should be up soon to that effect. The chassis are scratch built by us in our factory and are extremely good. They have side impact protection, crumple zones front and rear and a fold away steering wheel. Donor car is a Cossie, not a Scooby. Keep an eye out for the website. It'll be live in a week or so time. www.evo200.com

Just let me know if we can be of any further help.

Only noticeable difference is the gap between the front of the door and the wheel arch. On the original 200, there was hardly a gap. On the Evo200 there's a gap of about 6 inches.

The Evo versions have the "ears" either side of the intercooler scoop. However, they do an Evo 0.5, which has the ears, but not the Brian Hart 2.1 Evo engine....

Here is a genuine Evo BH 2.1 version :

sorry but i went right off that link when i saw....

a. the price
b. the running gear.

who wants a evo lookalike with a subaru engine ?

your into such a lot of money for that replica you could have a proper high end rs like a rs500 and a replica rs200 for 30 grand.

a replica for under 10 grand is a much better idea.

A replica RS200 for under 10k would be great, but unfortunately it probably wouldn't be worth having and you certainly can't build a decent one for that price.

My bro in law has an RS Automotive replica, his second one. The only difference is the rear opens the opposite way to the original but he has fabricated some brackets (he's a machinist/welder by trade) to get it opening hte correct way.
So far his one owes him a lot more than 10k!!

i have seen them more than half done for 5 grand,i could not bring myself to have a 35 grand replica.
obviously if you throw expensive parts at it the cost goes up but doesn't mean the cars worth that, you probably would end up breaking it if you wanted maximum return when selling.

be good when the kara gets back in production.

As your making a new chassis are you rengineering it to the correct length and redoing the front clam and sillmouldings to be the right shape??? Would be worth doing IMO. And engineering the rear clam so it tilts the correct way too.

It's for the torque split.

It was for selecting two or four wheel drive as in old Land Rovers, Following the test drives by Fords drivers they prefered the car in full time four wheel drive and the extra lever and the option of running in 2wd was dropped, Following the messy and desperate operation just to get shut of the RS200's following the cancellation of Group B some cars did make it throu to sale with the extra lever still in place.

Factory built (Spooner's) RS200 evo's were fitted with a 'dog' version of the FF Developments gearbox.
They also had higher transfere box ratio and most were fitted with stronger diff casings.

All of them had the extra lever as it controlled the torque split.

There are plenty of pics of 200's not fitted with the extra 2wd/4wd selector lever
