Default Wheels again

Is there any truth to this statement and am I concluding the right thing from it?

"Loosing 1kg of rotational weight (ie wheel weight) is the straightline performance equivalent to removing 10kg from your car"

My car stationary with me in it weighs 1100kg

I currently have 16" escos wheels (about 16kg each), I have been offered some 16" oz super t's (8kg each)

Does that mean the saving of 8kg per wheel (32kg total) is equivalent to my car weighing 320kg less?

If not, I don't understand?

What benifits will this have to my car? better handling? faster?

Thanks

with my limited knowledge on the subject i would say that is a bit of a genrelisation, but a reduction in unsprung weight (i believe its called) is far more significan than a reduction on total weight, well to a certain extent anyway, im sure some one like Mike R, could explain it better

Ditto what he said above.
Anyone whos fitted big wheels to a mini can testify to this.

I dunno about the figures, the equation seems far too simplistic, but the theory rings true imho.

Although, surely having a greater rolling weight would result in greater momentum, hence a slower start but possibly higher speed once the initial drag was overcome?
