Default starter motor problem

could anyone tell me if there is suposed to be a groung straight from the battery bolted thru the started to the gearbox..i just want to make sure i have it wired up properly

A donk doesn't sound good.

But yes, the starter has a direct +ve and -ve feed because of the juice it needs.

it makes the same noise my old starter made ...cant be the flywheel..cnt be the starter...........????????????????????im stuck.......my battery is not in the best condition but even tryed jum starting it off another running car and a batery pack still wont turn over....and hitting it with a hammer

no i just rebuilt it and i done it properly.it did turn over on the old starter once but then it died..i cant bump it donw the road because i havent primed the engines oil presure because of no starter..not sure what to do

try turn the engine by hand, if thats ok then you got a faulty starter or maybe a bad earth

Try turning it over by hand on the crank pulley.

is it good to take the plugs out when turning the engine over for the fist time intill u get oil presure i over herd a convosation of somone with a rst..he was saying its the best way??personally i cant see how

Plugs are ok left in but I'd pull the fuel pump relay so it doesn't fire.

just disconect the coil, same thing as you do when fitting a new turbo
gets the engine spinning without it firing up, helps get oil to everywhere its got to be before its running

off th e top of my head there is two wires tht plug into the posotive then a little round one which conects next to the posotive then a negative bolted to the box thru the starter..correct yeh

yeah thats right, there should be a bid heavy red wire(maybe 2, the other 1 just feeds the alt), and a bid heavy earth cable going thru 1 of the mounting bolts, the small wire is the feed from the ignition switch
sounds like you got it wired ok

good idea about pulling the fuel relay..cant flod it then.
and i have the coil unpluged ...plus i still dont kno if i have the right fireing sequence lol

if the wirings ok could be a duff battery but with jump leads it should atleast turn over shouldnt it..cant be that fucked

should turn with jump leads even if the battery's down
firing order is 1342
but it would still turn even if thats wrong

this dosent make any sense the starter i just fitted came off car that was running ..can they just brake after sitting in the gArege for 4months surley
