Computer just thrown another wobbly with shite Packard Bell software installed, plus I hate it and it takes up space for stuff I don't wan or even need!
I NEED the modem driver which I can not find or even download from anywhere
It's a MR2800-W Date Fax Modem for Packard Bell and here's the Packard Bell link to my particular PC... http://support.packardbell.com/uk/my...rnr=t742700310
Am I right in thinking if the only thing I install (Windows 98 SE) and installed Modem Driver that doing a Windows Update would find drivers for my Sound, Graphics card etc etc??
This is something I need to do tonight so if anyone can help, I'd really appriciate it

Mr Machester cheers mate
, as I don't know an awful lot about PC's really, just follow instructions reallyHow would I go about installing this as I'm going to save it to floppy if I can or even Cd-RW
also says this is for windows 2000 pro, need it for 98 SE
james, on the previous page before that link it said it was for all operating systems
just download it, unzip it and install OR download and put on a disk.
its 1.1MB so it may not fit on a floppy.

Ok will do, anyway as per first post
If I install modem and connect to Windows Update will it install drivers for sound/grpahics cards etc etc?
When I installed 98 SE on it's own, it didn't have the drivers...

Ah FFS!
Leaving Packbell Bell stuff on then, can't be done with that hassle!!!
I know I once had a problem with my sound and Windows Update found the driver and installed thus worked fine, it won't do this?

James.
What spec machine you running as the link is giving me a 404 error.
What size HDD you got?
You have already said you are a computer numpty and havent got a clue so how do you know that XP will slow your machine down?
As said, windows 98 is probably killing your machine. If everyone had your view we would still be running Windows 3.1!

James, you modem driver should be on your master cd1 in the folder called drivers, also if u load the program on the pc called smart restore u should be able to uninstall what u dont want be placing a red x next to the program.
If u do 98 install, u will need, modem driver, video card, sound card, and depending on motherboard fitted poss a couple of other drivers.
I have seen xp running on a pbell pulsar 24 pentium 2 233mhz with 256mb ram and it ran ok, whilst it will not win any speed awards it will be ok.
