cosworth are remaking blocks again if they can be pointed in the right direction ie making them strong with a cgi cast that will mean the cosworth week point is no more

I have just given a "fly by wire" design to a well known tuner to evaluate.
Includes ALS and TC options....
Designed to retrofit on an L8 or P8 and fully mappable.
If they like it, they will be making it and selling it (Not me LOL)

Not everyone has given up on the old YB

the big power evos dont ether though if your in it for the thrill then it ends up caged and stripped with sticky tires its just a progression

iv drove tariqu,s evo 400bhp 2.5k worth of coilovers handles way better than a cosworth but just wasnt as violent or agressive so not any fun

Has anyone ever fitted the 2.5 16v as found in 190 Mercs into a 'cossie'. or is that taboo?

Simon, im in no rush but even i cannot wait that long for one of your designs to come to production

although all that in a P8 would be my ideal ECU !!

Markk,

There is a prototype being trialled.
If all goes well, I wont be making it or selling it myself.
Just will sell the design rights then its upto the owner to do the work.

This approach suits me well.
I dont have time to devote to it as I need to work to. This has always been my problem. (and still is)
People think developments like this happen over night. (I am sure you dont)

All my designs are done in spare time, hasnt helped that I dont have a cossie at present

Simon i know we discussed this some years ago, and you mentioned trying it, but you need to be quick, and also cost effective with the benefits to sell them, DTA are just launching their version to run with their own ecu's, motec/pectel/life already have this albeit at a high premium, it will need to prove beneficial to sell it, great for the likes of me into rallying, but not sure how the road boys would want/need this tbh.

and make sure it has a safety feedback system if it comes to fruition, i have no doubt of your abilities to design and build a one off, its just the marketing and manufacture that lets you down (by your own admission).

So if i said to you here is Ł1000, build me a system to drive by wire and four wheel launch control with FULL integration to P8 (and i mean fully programmable throttle angles/response Vs throtle body, all adjustable could you do it (i provide the ECU/throttle body/throttle pedal of course) ?

would you even bother for that amount of money on that type of project?

this is a serious question?
and within this millenium !! (sorry couldnt resist )

cheers

Mark,
I have an arrangment in place already but am pushing hard to finalise the deal by the end of this month.
Its not going to make me rich but thats not why I do it !

If it falls through, you can have the prototype to play with yourself at no cost to see what you think.

Think their is a long way too go with what we already have, dont need any new things just yet. I know Mark is moving on from my feeble 800bhp engine development with other customers so expect 850bhp+ I guess.
Certainly 600bhp can already be called reliable as can 700bhp, not so sure on 800bhp yet but we are working on it .
The Jag Diff caught on with me & with the Tremec is the best mod ever done on my car & after 9 years I still cant break them & thats not without trying be assured..

think the reason they never caught on was that brom went awol and no one else was offering the conversion! what was zoo charging fo them when u had urs done?

lol, the whole 'jag' rear came from me actually, ive never really said anything as i agreed it for a certain company to take some info from my car for the basic principle, i have been running a 4ha/u for nye on 10 years in the back of my sierra, and many moons ago, a bloke call Sean Bicknell was sat in my front room about 1.00am (after trying to gt a clutch alignment spigot in blackpool) when he asked what rear diff i used, hence the jag conversion came about from Zoo

Brom did a lot of changes, to suit his own fixings etc and also the late cased 4HA/U.

but now days i just run a 9" ford item as the jag diff is very heavy, my Jag rear end also used std 2wd shafts and adjustable camber/toe all them years ago!!

Essentially the cosworth scene and its tuning are dieing, the number of cars is only ever getting smaller, I doubt there will be any new "big" thing in the cosworth tuning game now, its getting towards the end of its life really, some will continue to push the boundaries of course, out of bloody minded love for the marque, but it wont happen in big numbers anymore.

its all well and good having 500bhp average cossies and 6sp boxes but traction in a massive problem, to have 6sp boxes on 3.6:1 you need torque and with that comes through the shafts and out via the wheels, simply put old cossie axles are utter shyte, very heavy (good/bad thing??!!) and opperate on a weird arc setup for travel/camber/toe setup.

im sure we all remember whats his name....... erm........... Danny whatsit.........

anyway, the engine itself has massivly evolved in power, new managment and turbo designs on the basic YB results in nearly 1000bhp if im not mistaken!!

a lot of folk, mainly norweigen are altering the bore/stroke (im guessing to equal the MIGHTY EVO`s) and seeing excelent results.

new blocks are no-longer available, new pistons are becoming vary hard to source from certain manufacturers........ was told yesterday "yes .5 overbore not a problem we have them in stock, how many do you need?"

"only the one set of 4 thanks"

"oh, well im sorry we cant help you as we only have 3 items in stock and not producing any more"

WHAT???? LOL KS pistons have cut my throat, no more "cosworth sized" pistons produced, will have to pay some cunt like accralite or whatever silly hundreds of quid for same spec items
