I wouldn't say it's the next big thing as it's been around for a few years?

It's certainly handy as I have mates overseas that I speak to [and see ] on it. But it seems to shit itself with Vista so I always uninstall it after I've caught up - unless there's a new version in the last month?.

If you're only bothered about FREE skype to skype stuff, MSN Messenger seems to do the same trick for most people.

As above you only really need skype if your going to/or do already speak on the mic to more than one person, because msn isnt too hot on that i dont think, but if its only ever one person just use msn messenger which most people already have.

Ive used both for mic and skype is no better quality wise either, both sound the same

Skype is amazing I use it all the time especially to talk to relatives out of the city for as long as I wish and free. I also purchase credit from time to time so I can ring any phone and send sms messages cheap. It works much better than MSN and never cause me any issue, always on no downtime, faster, doesn't hog as much resources but if you're one of those who loves the silly smilies then they aren't as good on Skype. I have my contacts on it and text chat happily as well.

I run it on Linux and Windows no problems, love it and can't get why people use MSN its slow/hungry and always fucking up. Used skype for years now.

I have Skype on my Ipaq pda phone as well and log into it when I need to and on Wifi it can text and chat rather well and stay on in the background. Not rung normal phones from it though and can't recall if you can, sorry.
