yeah that could be an idea chip.
and to you other people, do you not understand the term cheapish project.
6k on a fucking mk2 then have to put something decent in it, and then somehow try and make the barge handle! no no no and no!

Know of a 200SX in Southampton up for sale with a few bits done to it, S14, engine isn't blown but they only want Ł1k for it, rip the engine out, sell it on and buy a 1UZ.
Perfect plan

ahhh Ryan some of the quickest mk1/2's in the country are still running Pinto's
you could get a decent cheaper shell for half the price of that mk2 & wack whatever you like into it!

THOR racing do a Supra Turbo box conversion, but its about 1500 quid.
Other than that, its DIY time.
The BMW 4.4 V8's are a fantastic engine and come with a decent box too.
Audi 4.2 V8 is a case of not being a readily available strong RWD box again

If its track time you will be doing just splash out 3.5k on a kit car like a stryker.
Plenty of them still being competitivly raced and much more track orientated than any converted road car.

BMW 318is (take your pick, E30 or E36), Eaton M45 Supercharger (100-odd quid off ebay for one with delivery miles on that someone's binned off their Cooper S in favour of the Works pacakge), very very easy RWD car with 215-ish BHP.
That not enough? Add TB's and it becomes very lairy, and would also be a car in the vain of an E30 M3 (lairy 4-pot etc)

No, but I know a man who has!
I've had the 'charger lying around for ages, but not done anything with it, but know of someone who did it on their E30, running 210BHP, and it was relatively straightforward.
I'm not saying all you have to do is bolt it on and away you go, but here we've got people talking about Cosworth running gear into just about every run-of-the-mill car going and that's going to take a lot of time, effort, skill and ŁŁŁ. I think buying a nicely sorted, if a little underpowered RWD car that ticks most of the right boxes and spending, what? Ł1000? Ł1500? Upping the power a considerable amount. Depends how clued up you are and what contacts you have I guess...

Seriously, buying something like one of those (just a few examples, not saying they're the best or anything), then spending the same as the purchase price on a superchager conversion, shed a bit of weight from it, budget brake and suspension upgrades, sorted!
Seems like a good "budget" project to me

What job?
The job of making its own loom, and mapping itself?
Its all perfectly possible, its just not how you described it is all im getting at, you made it sound like 100 quid for a charger and off you go, thats only 10% of the money you would realistically spend doing it.

as said, i dont really fancy the job of mapping and shit like that which is why i like the idea of a complete engine transplant, like i talk about the 1.8t, just a chip and its done.

I never suggested (or at least never intended to suggest) that it'd be Ł100 and there you go. But I still think Ł1000-Ł1500 for what you're getting is rather good.
If you want simplicity, buy that 335i in the for sale section, lol

Cheaper, more interesting idea (IMO) - VX220 with an Astra VXR Z20LEH or C20LET in it.
Can pick up VX's fairly cheap now, even more so for one with a blown up 2.2 in it.

How menacing does that look?

I could only afford to buy a damaged one but with the aluminium chassis being a bit of an unknown i'm not sure.
How much was the cheap one at the breakers?
