Wet tyres for donno?

Wet tyres for donno?
Im assuming that there are no tyre restrictions on donno on the 29th, as I believe they dont care about road legal etc?
We've got 888's for the dry or light damp, but what do people recomend for the wet?
Need a tyre thats available in approx 195/50/16 ideally but a 195/40/17 would be acceptable too.

The difference between proper full competition wets and normal treaded road tyres is unbelievable.
Until you try them, its impossible to describe the amount of grip you can get!!
Finding them is the difficult job! marco seems to be the man, but the last time i spoke to him, the 15"s were in short supply!!!
I agree about the r888's if its damp, howver if its been raining a lot, the bottom of craner curves and the old old hairpin can attract a lot of water as it runs down the slope..so take it steady just in case.

You aint kidding, hence why ive had to downsize to 15"s...
Even used 15"s are becoming rare as well. especially in full slick sizes.
As for 17's most ive seen are wider than 205's and also a bigger profile than a 40 (or equivalent road sizes)

yeah, i did want full slicks,
but i have decided that r888s are good enough for me, and now i have the wets, i have no reason to purchase any slicks
there are some for sale on the 205 forum, but i dont want them now

Ive been in cars round donny in the rain on full wets, and they corner much faster in the wet than most cars do in the dry! hence i'm after a set of used wets off marco as well!! lol

I also cannot explain how fuckin good those proper wet tyres marco gets are.... I was shocked at how good they were round donno in the wet the other christmas in Andys 500.... compared to the absolute joke spec of Daz' Dolly with its Bald Dunlop cut slick things....
Tims 205 went very well with F1's on but its real gung ho stuff...
In terms of drainage at Donno- yes very good but the bottom of craner curves into the old hair pin often has standing water a plenty if its heavey.

If those were the only two choices I'd run the road tyre.
If R888's are cheap enough then why not just put some extra cuts in them if its a wet day ? Thats what we have done for people.
If its wet I run intermediate Michelin TA's
If its standing I run Michelin P2B's
If i dont have those tyres on rims the car does not move.
and by standing wet i mean like this

Yes Tim
I know and trust those tyres to work in extreme conditions when in competition, so a little winter trackday should pose no problem for them.
But finding something decent that will work similar to a proper tyre in a 40 or 50 profile is like looking for the impossible i guess
If its wet just be more cautious and slow down.
If you know its going to be wet then you wont be needing those big brakes, so a second option for winter cars is to maybe fit smaller ones and run proper tyres.
