Default Fitting greys

Would there be much noticable difference going from greens and a power engineering stage 3 chip to greys and a msd chip?

Reason I ask this is cos this what I have done and TBH its all pretty still the same. I still need to get it booked in to get it set up just thought the difference would have been a bit more noticable.

has the boost gone up? If not, of course it won't make a difference.

Also, what spec turbo are you on?

have you purely changed the injectors but not changed the chip/program yet?

I'm running a t34.48 at the moment, with a -34

I've fitted the greys along side a MSD chip which is for Greys, t34 etc

The car runs fine, by which I mean no excess black smoke etc and idles well.

The only doubt I have is the chip, I checked with stu and he didn't have it on file although the guy I brought it off said is was for greys etc.

Boost hasn't really gone up. Seems a little less lag though. Don't really wanna mess with the boost without a proper set up/fuel check.

i wouldnt alter the boost until its being setup, but if it is correct for the chip to control greys you will probably find that you can run a fair bit more boost safely as the fueling will already be compensated to suit!!

it is a bit worrying tho if Stu hasnt got a record of it as he does keep them all on file and deails recorded of everything hes done.

was the guy you purchased from not able to provide the receipt atall, or does the chip have the MSD evo chips serial number on it?

If the chip was incorrect would the car still run o.k?

The chip looks legit, has the evolution sticker and serial number on it but the guy had no receipt and stu had no record of it!

Is it possible to get the chip read?

Maybe plug it in to a device the reads the long codes and mapping to confirm the spec?

Will definitly get it set up asap.

The power comes form the volume of air and fuel combusted, so since you havent added any extra air, you will not get any more power.

As a first port of call you should refer to the very comprehensive fitting instructions provided with the chip, they should get your fuel pressure, Idle Co, spark plugs settings and boost pressure in the ball park, then get a pro to finalise it before you use it hard. As per the instructions.

your turbo will be your limiting factor!t34.48 will start to really struggle above 360 bhp!as it cant supply the volume of air required for the required fuel!u need to change the exhaust housing to either a .55 or .63 to get any benefit from your injectors!

Yes, as long as its not on an encryption key.
(that said, if its a greys chip, it actually shoudl be, so no.)

Oh o.k. no worries.

When I get it set up will the tuner be able to tell if the chip is working correctly with the injectors?

Also, Out of interest and to rule out any possiblity of my chip being one but would a chip for greens work with greys?

He will be able to tell if its fuelling nice and not detonating.
(Well, a good oen will)

Yes it would, it would run rich.
But id be more worried it was for the wrong compression, as that would destroy your engine if held hard on in the higher gears.
