except megasquirt, emerald, anything that runs wasted spark.....

I assume SM4 will do it on individual coilpacks, how about the older mbe and dta stuff?

Do you mean NOT on a dizzy?

Yeah SM4 will do it quite happily, as will modern DTA (well not the real basic ones like the S40), not sure about the older stuff though if you are talking seperate coil implementation.

ah ha, cheers fella, hadnt thought that one thru

Will Holman from PPC got Dave Walker to alter an emerald unit to run 5 coils for his audi lump, and most of the ecus state 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engines.

I guess with a dizzy it doesnt matter, it only needs to know where the spark events occur (as opposed to needing 5 drivers for the coils..)

I wonder if the software in something like gotech would allow you to put in 5 sparks per cycle..

(musing while at work with about half a brain, probably being really stupid)

1 coil most should work, Others with 4 ign outputs can run 1cyl with wasted spark or you use a expander and the software can run 5 cyl individual spark.

Emerald can also run 2 cylinder as well, as Dave's(emerald) old Norton is being converted to run this with fuel injection, with no dizzy as doesn't need it, same as cars.
Biscuit also has Emerald and FI on his old MG, working wonders, think he has dizzyless as well,(biscuit works for emarald).
John, who works at Emerald has it on a interesting duratec 2.3 engined reliant kitten at 230bhp!!

none of that is any way relevant

it seems goig back over them that most will, emerald sorted it for will hollman from ppc, dont know if these are for sale yet.

Megasquirt will do it, but info on which kit you need is sketchy. they sell for 335 quid built, tested with a wiring tail in this country tho.

cheers for all the advice guys, nothing worse than being armed with half the info

i was going to go with what rod was offering as he said it would run 5 pots

it's got the coil on plug set up x 5

but the more pressing problem is that apparently the ecu on the st lump sits in the air flow so i can't remove it even if it's redundant as otherwise ther eis a big hole and the diference in the air flow causes problems

then the sump isn't suited to north/south applications as th ebit that needs to be cut out has the oil drains bolted to it via some pipework and some holes in the sump

i'm sure i'll make it all work, i just need to figure out what it all does first

sorry to jump into your thread and hijack it

does gotech do boost control out of interest?

Nothing fancy, I was a cap at 20psi, building a few psi at very high rpm as the VE drops off with the aim of holding 300ftlbs from 3500 - 7k.

For all you dickheads, Karl does not do forums due to peeps like you, I am in no way connected to emerald as ROOSIE off here and COZMEISTER can attest, as can Mike R as well as others, hopefully you will beleive some of these, but if not from the great god of cossie's I doubt it.
I give my reasons for not liking the std set up, this is a PUBLIC forum, unbeleivably it has members of the public on here, who may or may not have different opinions to your own.
Please feel free NOT to read any of my comments if you so please, I don't give a toss, and will continue to say what I feel appropriate.
I am ONLY staying here to annoy people who have a different opinion.
Why not PM the peeps mentioned, they will soon confirm I am NOT Karl, christ the so called good people on here can't even use the emerald system properly(with regard to live update), I can do it, so anyone else who has a brain should be able to as I don't do computers at all.
As they say RTFM.

You know how to make the emerald do live update without having to press a ridiculous sequence of keys after each update?

If so, TELL!
It would make it SO much easier to use if we all knew how to do this!

Ive R'd the FM and it doesnt say it in there anywhere I could see!

Please point me at which page of the FM to R again and I will do so.
