alloy refurbishing

i need an alloy refurbishing guide as i wanna spray my mondeos in anthricite (dunno if spelling is right!)
is it just a case of sanding down with wet/dry sand paper, and spray?

if there not damaged yeah, but make sure you prep them good or paint will come off in no time.
