audi RS4`s anyone gen`d up?
Hi, i really want to replace my current awesome A4 B5 2.5TDi avant sport quattro with the legendary RS4 (Bi turbo B5 model)
what are these cars like to live with day to day?
i have driven a couple of standard ones and was gobsmacked, i bought my current model with fitting RS4 rear 1/4`s and full kit from audi but i MUST have a genuine RS4 in nogaro blue.
any input welcome and feel free to post pics of yours/mates cars!
Sean.
oh, and the saff will be staying! RS4 will be daily driver if i decide to go to work, may just stare at the 2 cars all day long, that would also be sweet!!
forgot to ask, anyone aware of specialists in RS4`s?
i belive i dealt with someone called Nick summat or other?! liked his honesty but cant rememeber who he was!

Proper car mate and hold their value well, brilliant to drive only complaint it was bit thirsty as an everyday runner and had gearbox/cluth issue's. Once they were sorted I loved it, felt it had plenty road presence and very comfy.

nice one, i always keep a track of RS4 values and even LHD ones hold strong money.
most of them are Avus silver ones unfortunatly as that and goodwood green are the only ones i wouldnt have.
hopefully speak to some people about a few cars tomorrow, one chap has about 10 in stock!!!! well worth a drive or maby not as i`ll be Ł20k out of pocket lol
was the gearbox/clutch issues just due to hard use/wear?
considered S4`s on numberous occasions but i know once i get home i will always be dissapointed i didnt opt for the full steroid abused RS4.

get yourself over to www.rs246.com
Just had a new gearbox in mine (Ł3.7k) 15000 miles after the previous gearbox rebuild (for a similar cost). Car has only done 58k miles.

As said, get your self on www.RS246.com or www.audisrs.com
On a run at 75-85 you should see 28-30 mpg
on average over a tank i get around 24mpg with some blasting about
MRC Tuning and APS in Bracknel all know there stuff,
A Milltek cat back exhaust, removing the small precats and remap should see a reliable 450 bhp and will also remove the Speed limiter so you will see an indicated 195 at the limiter in 6th
Also check the Insurance, mine was Ł490 as opposed to Ł850 for an ecos
There was an issue with the early(2000) model gearbox, alot will have had them replaced, and if done by Audi its covered by 24 months parts and labour warranty, the boxes in the 2001 models was slightly modifed, altho its only a few hundread quids worth of a job at a gearbox specialist!
All in all a brilliant car for everything, comfy quick and really well equipt, they will need stiffening up for track use, but Ł299 will sort that for some H&R roll bars, that removes the understeer issues and makes it more responcive while still retaining the ride quality!
Must be Nick Johnson u mean with 10 in stock, he has some good cars but avoid the azure(dark) blue one, its not what its cracked up to be!
Recaro trim with retractable dog gaurd lol
200mph speedo
A bit of girth

Ive got one.
Uber cool cars IMO. Does everything it says on the tin. but goes faster.
Nuff said.
As above. Live map from MRC Tuning and Cat back system is all you need to blow the socks off pretty much anything else on the road, and thats with a bootfull of shopping.
Will happily take you and your mates/family in comfort to the ring, do some early 8 minute laps (not with me driving) and then take you all home again no worries too!

Personally I'd have an S4, for less money than an RS4, then spend to difference replacing the turbo's and intercoolers with the RS4 items, add a decent exhaust and intake, then remap to get more power then a stock RS4 is likely to have...

Problem with the B5 platform RS4 tho is they only came in estate form, so if you want a saloon or just purely don't want an estate, you can't have an RS4!

or buy an s4 thats had it al done allready, as they aint worth much over a standard s4, like most modded cars.
ive saved the cash and im now in a position to upgrade, unfortunately needs change, no rs4 or M5 for me, modern diesel pickup truck is on the cards !

Guy I know has a MTM tuned one. (no idea what the BHP is though) Its probably one of THE fastest cars Ive ever been in! Best thing is it will cruise all day at triple figures with the AC pumping away. The surge from about 5k up is just staggering!
Common as muck though. Parked up in Lidl car park, came back to find a new friend from Luxemborg.
Oh and the owners of RS Audis flash to each other.

WOW just checked this post by chance!
it is Nick Johnson i was thinking of, i was going to fly down to see the Azure blue one he has....... but after checking with my brain i simply must have a nogaro blue or misano red one.
What do you reccon to Black?
im in 2 minds.
i know i was gonna keep it standard but i know me and 3 months after owning it my card will be out again!!!!!
im sure you`ve all seen the RS4 VS M5 video on youtube and i simply must modify one
i will check out that site mentioned before.
i cannot stand the back ends of saloon A4`s so Avant all the way for me
cheers for the heads up on the gearbox issue chaps, im sure it`ll be in the history if been recalled etc.
my everyday A4 is a late facelift sport quattro and i love them to bits as much as cossies but i think the new RS4 may change me forever, but i need an RS1600i parked next to it in the garage

modding an S4 is all well and good performance wise but lets face it, the RS4 is one of the best looking things ever produced IMO.
i got prices from audi for most of the major parts to mod my avant to RS4 looks and its close to 5k wothout things like grilles and fittings..... silly cash, and try to find a bumped RS4, not a hope!

10K RS4 + 10K on bits for it, is worth probably 12K a year later
Expensive route to go down in the longer term IMHO!

I do have the other Azure Blue one and its an amazing colour (when its clean). Nogaro just says "look at me" which you dont need in an RS4. The thing I love is that it just blends in and people think its a smart Audi with nice wheels, but you get lots of respect from the people that take a second glance and realise what it is.
I searched for a long long time to far a minter low mileage car and my only advice would be to look at a few.

Wise words, definatly view a few, and take someone with you who is well clued up, the are many which have had hard lives, they were criminals favorites for a while due to the size and ability, probably a bigger mine field than used cosworths!!
Classic example of if it seems to cheap it probably is for a reason

i've had 4 audi rs4's two old and two new ones
the old ones are mega for tuning,a remap and an exhaust and pretty much nothing will catch you on the road, had it showing 190 on the clock a few times and that was four up
the new one although it handles a lot better than the old one, will never give you they same buzz,i miss the turbos coming on boost etc.
end up writing one of the new rs4's off,hit a tree side on and ended up in hospital for 6 weeks,i became too confident in the way the car handled, but eventually lost it
car was wrecked i was lucky to be alive, that will teach me lol

I drove Cosymad's 509bhp MTM one around the Ring, and didn't get on with it. Despite top of the range suspension and brakes, it just felt too big and heavy and didn't like direction changes. I suspect that it needs a completely different driving style, but with one lap, I didn't get the chance to gell with it.

Unfortunately, this is my only experience of one, so is somewhat coloured, as I WANTED to love the car, as it looks so cool .
