Yup, been a clown and lost mine!
Anyone actually successfully removed them with either a removal tool or the 'socket whacking' technique? I'm sure cheap soft lockers would be a doddle, but any advice about McGards would be most welcome!!!

And some of these..........

Job done
If the sockets are cheap enough it ought to be them that distort. Should be enough to get it started at least.
Failing that, park it in Liverpool. Wheels will be off in no time

Without wanting to dishearten you tooooo much....but I tried that technique on a McGuard & failed miserably and ended up actually cutting the alloy off with a 9" grinder!!!!

do you still have the box they came in anywhere
if so there is a code in there for what key to be used to get another
if not, then socket and hammer, but you need to get the outer case of the lock off first as they spin, once this is off then the old technic will work
either way though, i think your going to end up scratching the wheels minimum

mcgards may be too hard for the socket whacking way, but i obtain a left hand threaded socket and they are the easiest to take off! don't know where you would get one, though. try a wheel specialist?

Dan,
There is a tool called the 'Gator' i think - it's basically a cylinder full of little metal pins, the idea is that the pins make contact where they can and have been used to remove McGards...
Alternatively - i think the AA/RAC have some magic sets of locking wheel nut keys...

Cheers for the advice. I've seen the reverse thread jobbies on fleabay for about a Ł10, but don't want to pay for one if they end up being shit, and I then end up having to pay Kwikyfit.

Done this many a time with salvage mondeos im sure they keep the lockign key to be akward lol. Best thing is a 3/4 socket bash over the top and undo works a treat ive done over 20 and no problems apart from trying to remove the nut from the socket lol.
it's fucking idiots like you that pull us down and have not probably even been here but just jump on the scousers are all thieving scum band wagon rant over
sorry if i have the wrong end of the stick but jave you lost your wheel locking socket.
if so the old car thief trick is to remove the normal wheel bolts and drive hard or wheel spin and they come loose dead easy,i have tried it and it worked.
it was a scouser who told me who was going straight

Please dont go to f==kin kwik fit they are shite please they are idiots you can get a remover from halford the thread type or just weld a cut off wheel nut on there and tighten the other 3 bolts up ........
like i say the way i mentioned works piss easy,i would not waste my time going for the tool box,if your car is rear wheel drive and they are on the front you just drive with the one bolt on and drive hard side to side, they have to loosen off due to the pressure on them.
if its on the rear you just wheel spin and they come loose.
thats how car theifs steel your wheels with out the locking socket if they have taken your car.

well mate i have done it and not caused any damage whatsoever, unless you think your going to drive for miles your not going to damage the wheels, just loosen them.
i have done it and then put new oe bolts and not had the wheel nuts come loose again due to damage.
you can just have another wheel nut in slightly opposite the other one if your worried about the wheel coming off

I just use a tube of metal around the wheel nut to protect the wheel, then weld a nut/bolt/bit of metal on whatever is lying around.
GATOR will not grip as it needs edges to grip on, I have one of these, usefull for some things but not in this case.

Took my mcgard ones (nuts not studs) off with a socket hammered over them!! I was shocked how easy it worked to be honest - I actually thought about not buying new ones!!
