Default Weighing In Cats For Scrap

I've got a couple of cats and other unwanted exhaust bits lying around, taking up space and doing nothing much else. Just wondering how much I should be looking for if I were to weigh them in for scrap?

Cheers

I got £35 per cat last time I did it - only 3 weeks ago

Make sure they are the titanium CATS and not the newer composite ones (titanium ones are 99% manufaturer parts and the composite ones are usually aftermarket replacement jobbies)

One of the girls at work had one nicked from her Kia 4x4 thingy and it cost a few quid to replace. The Police told her it was a common theft

That's my thoughts.

They are both original ones, one from a MK6 Escort, one from a WRX Impreza

mate you been screwed over

even the compistite cats contain PLATINUM, they coat the blocks ( metal and ceramic) with 3 metals platinun, rodium and something else, the cat works as a chemical reaction with these metals and converts them to different gasses

depends on the price of the metals about what percentage they coat the blocks

BUT as car are LIFE TIME items from main dealers they tend to over coat them

i just finished a 4 hour course about cat isses to discover why we had so many warranty issues and the causes ect

theres 2 types of cats, metal core or ceramix, they are all coated with 3 metals to do a chemical reaction,,,, thats all they do

if i had a scanner i would post up all the geeky notes i made

I would wait a bit, i went to weigh a few in yesturday and they were down to about £20 per CAT, this was £55 per cat a few weeks back.
Say's its down to a fall in Platinum price.

its down to the fall in the price of ALL metals, its dropping,, and will keep dropping mate for the next few months

the price of metal was WAY too high for normal based on the shortage due to the far east now having alot more money and spending alot more

its not gonna go back up for a while PLUS they are ripping people off too at scrappys
