Default Buying a Cheap, Small Bike/Scooter

Hi chaps -

I'm after a cheap 125cc bike or scooter - it needs to be road worthy and have some tax on it and not be complete shed. Would rather a Jap make for sake of reliability (or peugeot if a scooter as they seem to be ok from what i've heard?).... I want to spend no more than £500.

The question is basically - where's best to look? Biketrader is too expensive for people selling on the cheap and pistonheads seems to have more exotic machinery...! Ebay seems to have a few things crop up every now and then. Anyone have any more ideas?

Cheers!
Chris

I think it would be hard to find a bike for less than £500 that is cheap to run and buy parts for. I would get a 4 stroke so you don't have to keep buying two stroke oil and a decent four stroke would cost about £800.

For £500 all you'd get is a damage repaired 2 stroke 80s bike in my experience.

Well if more needs to spent then so be it.... I was mostly wondering if I was just looking in the wrong places for the cheaper end of the market!

I've been keeping an eye out for a honda SH100/125 as i've ridden the 50cc version before and found it pretty nice to ride by virtue of the larger wheels...seemed not to get through the oil too quickly either. would the same be true of all recent honda 2 strokes?

will have a look at the c90s thanks mate!
