Mock up or not it was a piece of Doningtons history

Donington like many motor circuits were originally an airfield during WW2

I believe it was a "delivery" point for the Spitfires built at Castle Bromwich and were sent on to other airfields for battle

I hope when Donington is refurbed the Spitfire returns

the train carrige is/was a restaruant, the bridge just after the original starkys bridge is to commemorate the fact that the cars used to actually race through one of the arches on the original pre war track.

I may stand corrected but are you getting confused with Donington Leicester (Airfield)

With Donnington Shropshire (Army logistics depot) ?

From wikipedia on Donington park "The circuit at Donington Park was closed in 1939 due to World War 2, when it became a military vehicle depot"

safety wasn't top of the list of priorities back then lol

I have now corrected myself

Knew there was a connection somewhere - lol
