It's likely to be noise from the alternator on the power supply - A supressor is the way to go, but I wouldn't know where to install it as my amps have always given a clean signal.

i plug the rca's in last y would this make a diffrence?
If you plug the rca's in first, then when you connect up the power, it can send a stray surge up the rca's, which will blow the earth track inside the headunit, which will give u a bad whine. RCA's are always last on, first off.
But as you said you did it that way, so you should be fine. If by any chance its a pioneer headunit, earth tracks are really fragile on them so blow proper easy!

yea i put it on last and made sure i had a good earth but still getting this problem so will try this suppressor i bought see if this sorts it out
This can normally be down to a few things but more specifically its usually down to the quality of the amp and or the rca leads - the feedback is a whine you get from the alternator (used to be a big problem years ago with the poorer quality items available back then but not such a problem now)
What make is the amp ? and are the RCA leads a decent quality as well ?
As mentioned before it can also be something as simple as a bad earth as the whine is sometimes described as an "earth loop"
If all else fails then a noise surpressor is the way forward but again get a decent quality one cos a lot of the cheap ones dont do alot.
