Default Top Speed & drift day! **Has been called off**

This is from sxoc BB

On Sunday 21st November 2004 I am (Richard Beaumont ) running an event at Sculthorpe Airfield Norfolk, near Fakenham, which is a former USAF B52 Bomber base. The main runway is 1.7miles with lots of adjoining taxi runways. The day will be split into two separate events: -

1. A Top Speed Challenge TSC type event with a dual ¼ mile with one lane carrying on to do a 1.25mile V-max run.

2. A full drift circuit set up by Team D:MON.

Pricing
TSC: £30 to run which includes ¼ mile and V-max limited to 85 on first come first serve basis ticket only.
Drift: £50 to run limited to 65 on first come first serve basis ticket only.
All spectators are £10 and can pay on the day.

All cheques sent to address below by 10th November please also include your name, bb name, address and car type: -

Tel: 01473 828377
Mobile: 07966396059
e-mail: Richard@beaumont20.fsnet.co.uk

Other info:
There is a possibility of using a covered hanger for mechanical work i.e tyre changing.
I will arrange catering facilities and toilets.
Tag Heuer timing gear will be used.
Japanese Performance and Redline magazines will be covering the event.
Simon Norris will be running his Evo.
I will be bringing a supply of Klotz 118 race fuel and other fuel products, (octane booster etc). Let me know if you have specific requirements.
Shell garage only 3.8miles from venue.
The day is being run to raise money, in conjunction with other events at my work, for charity. Please see attached link for details.

Any further questions just contact me on any of the above. I am now away for two weeks and have left my wife Louise to answer any question you may have while I’m away. Any changes to any of the above will be posted in this thread. The airfield is very easy to find and I will post up details of timings and map ASAP.

I'd love to have a go at drifting but I don't think an understeering 4wd is a good platform to start on

You know how many places are left?

I've emailed the address, but I'm at work and if he doesn't reply soon, I'll not see it until Monday, and then I'll be pushing it close to get my money there for the 10th!

talking of Beetles......

I was coming home from the passionford meet on Wednesday night going along the A127 just cruising along...there was a car 100/150 yards ahead of me in the slow lane doing about 65-70..then i look in my passenger door mirror and see this fookin car doing light speed coming up the inside! Think hmmmmmmm wtf (copper maybe??) i think the cars idea was to undertake every1 before i came beside the car infront of me in the inside lane... i had other ideas....

So i sped up a bit just to close the gap so he/she couldn't be a hero and dive through the gap...the car blasting down the inside lane wasn't slowing down but the gap was getting smaller....then the gap dissapeared and looked left as the hero driver and the car was a new shape Bettle! thought, pmsl what an idiot...i had a friend in a Esc Cos behind me so overtook the slow car and pulled into the slow lane to get a closer look....bettle came up beside me and kinda slowed to my speed looked across and booted it...i thought right then u hero your mine! muhahahaha well anyway this bettle seemed to pull n pull n pull was doing over 6.5k in 5th (fiqure it out) and the bettle was still pulling at the same rate that i was...i thought.................kin ell tis a bit nippy...anyway ahead i saw what seemed to be police lights through the trees (400 yards infront perhaps?!?) so i backed off n slowed...the bettle didn't n kept going at max speed! it was a standard looking bettle with the Audi TT 7/8 spoke 18's on...as it dissapeared into the distance the car put it's hazards on...

any1 know if an Audi TT engine fits in? as i've got an idea the certain car had one fitted.

cheers

1.8t are 225 as standard but can be tuned to 400 relatively easily.

think the 3.2 as fitted to golf r32 is about the 237 bhp / 236 lb ft of torque mark as standard which should not be bothering you. don't know about tuning them.

I know of some old beetles have Subaru engines in them and are fooking fast! I think that were getting 10-11 second quarters at Pod, I'd have to check.

The favorite thing used to be to drop a Porka engine in the old beetles as they fitted well.

Dee it wasn't an old bettle (the air cooled ones) it was a new shape 02 plate one!

didn'thave any funcky exhaust kit...just a set of wheels...goitta admit i 'reckon' it would have beaten me top end if i hadn't had spotted the copper!

Ask Dom about it as he was in Petes escort as i booted off!

sorry but its off

its not Richie fault he has tried his best.

this is what he has said...

"I really didn’t want to be saying this guys but I really have drained every avenue now and unfortunately after being rejected by 18 Airfields and race tracks for various reasons I am going to have to call off the event for this Sunday. I am so disappointed for the charity concerned as on the auction night a bloke I work with bid £250 for me to take him up the runway so I am going to have to put this off until I organise another track day. They did however manage to raise £4657 for the little boy and Wooden spoon to split between them and also £1200 was raised for the Black Watch Regiment so not everything is this bad. Everyone who sent me a cheque can either have them posted back or I will destroy them, please let me know which you would prefer. Due to the cancellation I have 26, five U.S Gallon containers of Klotz 118octane race fuel sat in my garage along with octane booster and nitro power additives, so if anyone still needs fuel please let me know. I feel really bad for letting you all down but there really is nothing more I can do to make this event happen.
As for the M25 I had already thought of that option ."
