Been saving quite a bit recently as I'm getting married next month, part of me is glad that i don't actually have to save anymore as it'll be all over and done with, but I have decided just a couple of months ago that since I'm in the routiene of putting money away I'm gonna try and stck with it, and have even started saving more than i have been for the wedding. ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)

I tuck a bit away every month.
Comes out of my account at the begining of the month so i don't even notice i had it.
I have a mate who earns about the same as me but lives at home with no wife or child. He has manged to tuck away £50k in the last few years! Always amazes me.

£50k ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
I couldn't save 50p when I was at home, I was out on the piss everytime i got the chance, when I moved out and still earned the same money I saved heaps cause i had my own space and didn't have to go out. Fair play to him though, if he can go and buy something with little or no mortgage in a year or 2 he'll be laughing.

This is long winded but here goes.I cant save for shit so 3 years ago i started taking £20 to work a day.Spend £1.30 roughly in the morning.About same again first break,About £2-2.50 at lunch time,& at some point late afternoon i burst the other fiver.Maybe buy a twix or that..Why well at the end of the day i have a pocket full of change & put it all in a bottle, like every coin i get then let it build up.Stupid i know i have just over 8k in a instant access savings account so its not that bad of a idea. Not loads but something as i would have just wasted in in cars like i done before.means if im ever out work it will pay the house ect

So do I
but atleast your saving something. I have internet banking, I keep up to date with my outgoings/direct debits, I check it atleast once a week and transfer any "spare" money out to my savings account, then if i really need it i can put it back again, works for me as I can't spend it if its not there to get at.

I save during the summer to pay for uni during the winter, but Im that skint that I never end up with an annual surplus so its not really saving I guess.

there is money left over in the account at the end of the month after everything else has gone out
plus there is the lump sum
plus i've got bank accounts that have a few quid in them that i don't touch
plus i've got the kids an accoutn each for their money, again, which i won't touch
so there is money tucked away somewhere for a rainy day, but if i were earning a lot less then i'd be a bit fucked

Jim if you got money on CC and paying interest then stop saving and put it straight to getting the money of those CC.
