FAST FORD Track Day (Open Pit)
#322
heh thats what they say, i was at oulton and at the very start of a track day after the safety car finished taking the first lot of cars slowly round on the familiarise lap, there was a almighty race to the first corner there was 25 cars going for it and the bloke who was in the lead smashed into the barrier and rolled his evo 6 rs, sure looked like racing to me, all unoficial like took 3 hrs to fix the barriers
i have a pic of it somewhere on oultons flat bed lorry only its the hi ab lifting it by the roof dangling nose down
just a warning, do any of you track day drivers with expensive cars get them insured as iirc the fella with the evo had one hell of a struggle getting a payout from his insures who were told about the trackday prior to his high speed r**#*~g manouver

there was an incident on my last trackday at oulton with an evo that rolled over a race saxo and went over the barriers into the trees.
that took 3 hours to reopen the circuit.
just take it easy on the first few laps, get a fee for the track-it can be very slippy at druids, and we should all be fine.

My GT3 is my track car. I do own a ford and as Jason will validate you would want to trackday such a mint car.
I have got my rsoc badge from when I first joined in 1986 so please be nice to me at oulton ......

if there s time you can from what i can gather every one wants a trip in the van lol i wont have time to get out in any of the other cars lol
#345
Honestly, a proper track prepped Escort Cossie. Although a love mechanical engineering over electrical, the Cossie is pure drivers car. The thrill of waiting for something to brake and perservearing to continue a track day with something hanging off
#346
and the gt3 isnt a pure drivers car?
it summed it up about what pure drivers cars are when i went to the ring.............the amount of m3 csl, porsche gt3 etc said it all.
doesnt mean cossie' arent fun-i had so much fun in my big power rs500,and i would imagine something like harvey gibbs escos,or mike rainbirds escos would be an awesome drive.

And? I did 8 laps on the ring last september with a few GT3 RS's braking down on the 2nd laps etc. they ain't all that sorry, their not invincible.
A proper EsCos all the way IMO...
#350
Its alright fella, I'm just putting my point accross, they ain't invincible. At the end of the day, every car dies the same if not looked after. I plan to kill mine on the 8th (hopefully not! )
#353
only due to family & friends wanting to attend i will be trailering the nail so everyone can travel down in the transit so if it dies im ok lol probably be fine though as iv been trying to brake it for months
i drove to silverstone 470miles in a day incuding track time & 0-60s

thats good goin and its still in one peice, blacky do you think mine will be allrite not run the engine out on road since last year and not even driven this current shell ,goin to get it set up before i do anyting though
#355
a good set up is a good thing if it is working well & the fueling is right then thats a good start just try taking the few times out on track at a steady pace
there is no point getting there & giving it rock all at the start only to brake it & sit on the sideline all day

I am looking forward to having a look at some of your cars, the last ford meet I went to was the RSOC national day in 1990! when the RS2000 reg RUD1T was a top car. I had an escort cosworth winter 05 for about 6 months, having not owned a ford since 95 which was a s1 turbo
#358
no-one is saying they are invincible, but are probably the most reliable out of the box cars to do the job-that surely you cannot argue with?
i went in a focus rs-engine temp light came on every lap, after about half a lap!
anyway, its going to be a fantastic day.im going to have great fun out on track and cant wait to see some of these excellent fords going round too.if i hadnt been able to get on track,i still would have been there as a spectator/passenger.
just hope the weather stays fine.

Righto- Just done some checks....55 confirmed cars.
Spaces still left!
Don't ask me who's going, i dont know, Focused can't give out driver names and details, they could tell me the cars but i'm leavin' in a second, so no time to be typing 50 odd cars.
Shaping up to be a belter.
Jay- Glad your in pal....i wanna passenger ride, start of the day! I wanna steal your best lines
Cheers
Neil
