As above, I posted on here a while back regarding my departure to Dubai, for a number of reasons I decided not to take the offer.
I had another offer (even more attractive) a couple of weeks ago, and have managed to sort things out here to enable me to go with the least amount of hassle both in business and home.
Being so closely linked with the construction industry, work in the UK is slowing down so much it would be financial suicide for me to stay here. I will be involved with the design of "Dubailand" which is probably the largest development in construction in the world at present at 3 billion square feet due to complete all phases by 2020. (inluding one serious race track and autodome)
The provisional date I have to leave is the 22nd September 08, all going well with Visa's and the consulates etc.
Will be residing in JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) for the first 12 months and then take things from there.
Keep your eye on the for sale room, there will be some bargains to be had

No mate it's inland. It's a Theme Park twice the size of disney, shopping centres that could accom the trafford centre 100 times over, race tracks (cars and athletics), residential, holiday resort, everything you could ever want will be there lol!

Dunlop2008 what do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking, and what will you be doing out there ?
Am also in the construction industry so just curious as to what work is on offer.

I've heard some stories from people that have worked there but I don't know how true they are. I can't blame you for going as this place is just turning into a Freddy Kruger nightmare

Enjoy it ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, make the most of it and keep looking at the positives while you're out there. I am sure you'll never regret the experience as long as you keep an open mind.
Been considering a return to the mother land myself for the last year or so, and it's getting more and more tempting by the minute

Oh, and sorry I didn't get back to you with my offer to put you in touch with someone who expatriated himself out here - he never responded to my email

You lucky fucker! An old school friend of mine lives out there, says it's the fucking bollocks if you can put up with their politics etc..... He would'nt change it for the world tho!
Wish I could do something like that - almost once had the opportunity to go work for my company out in Oz and I wish I had taken it! It was only a temp (few months) placement but it might have led to a permanent position!

i'm in the construction industry(bricky).would certainly consider a move out there at the mo,my mate took a job out there as a forman(sparkie) about 8 yrs ago and has never looked back, moving up the ladder at a fair pace!.
i think we could see some mass moves abroad in the near future.
