about 10 years ago there was someone in basingstoke who had a cossie engined mk2 and he had just basically changed the engine and gearbox. it still had standard non-vented brakes, and when he stopped up my road one time the disc cracked exactly around the shape of the pad ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
what i'm saying is, it's very easy to put the engine and gearbox in, but you need to uprate everything else around it, and that depends on how much power you want to run or how much cash you want to spend as mark says

i don't know what he did with the tunnel, but that's a fairly minor point tbh.
and yes, the auto tunnel is larger but you can get a weld in tunnel kit these days

as per nick above re the tunnel.
imo you need to worry more about linking the rear end, axles etc etc... the bill can be stupendously large! believe me!!!!!

I had a drive of Daryl Fletchers MkI Escort Cossie Powered Camper van and that was superb.
Far better behaved on the road than my 3 door and he had nothing 'special' done to the suspension other than what you would do to any fast road MkII.
Trick is not to go for tooo much power and over power the chassis, Daryl's has been lived mapped by Karl Norris and the effect was stunning.
Large amount of boost as you go on the throttle and then boost backing off as the revs rise.
The live axle means you have excellent tyre contact with the road at all times, unlike a cossie when you boot it, it squats and you end up running on the inner edges of the tyres.
Also the Escort is considerably lighter than a sierra so you dont have to go mad on the brakes, obviously vents and decent pads are essential, but they dont have to be 330mm stoppers for an enjoyable road car.

you can stick with the standard english if you have no grip and are on skinny tyres. personally i'd say a narrowed atlas.
if you don't fancy the cart springs then you'll need to 5 or 6 link the rear end. custom i/c and rad will be needed, some decent brakes are always an idea.. i could go on forever!

with it being an x-pack you could throw in a 2.8 capri rear axle with lsd already fitted.ive seen many cossied mk2's-some have a fortune spent on rear end, brakes etc, then ive seen others on rs2000 front brakes and capri rear axles.

strictly speaking you could probably just get a prop made up, change the crossmember/engine mounts, might be able to blag it with the intercooler and rad (doubt it though!) and then you could drive off down the road and rip the whole thing to pieces, starting withthe transmission within about 200 yards. see if you can contact fasterfords - he had a mk2 with a cossie lump that was probably at the more basic end of the scale..

you need the 2.8i special axle for the slipper i believe. (possibly some of the latest 2.8s as well but not sure!)

The BEST Mk2 I have ever seen was in Performance ford a few years ago, orange with silver mex stripes, flat front single round headlights and 330ish BHP on 5 spoke revvies, it looked the utter bollocks

he is on about putting it on ebay-then off it will go to ireland............like every other mk2 at the mo.the guy who bought my track mk2 xpack last year just wired me the cash and sent a wagon for it.
