depends what you want in a car, something new and refined and a general day to day drive, then it would have to be a focus... or if you want something that turns peoples heads, a bit of a legend in its own right and still earns respect after 16 years or so after its initial debut then the Escos wins hands down.

For me the Rs scene dies out after the Escos.. I dont think they should have made anymore Rs badged motors... The RS motors were a bit special and just by sticking an RS badge on the back doesnt make it so. Rs is unique, not like a GTI badge.

i have seen quite a few posts regards selling a escort cosworth to buy a focus rs.
why dont focus rs owners sell there cars and buy a new focus rs ?

could it be because it will take some of the kudos away from the original one and the values of focus rs's have taken a big hit

As said the escos was the last of the true RS's, more of a badged up car since then, just don't seem the same.

Your going to loose a few quid buying a brand new motor, where as the escos will keep it's price.

Just depends what you want from the car.

I hate to say it but if you have to ask this question then you already know the answer. Keep the Cossie especially if its a nice one as they seem to be getting harder to find.

Wrong wheel drive, complete waste of time, might as well buy an RS turbo .... Seriously, in 5 years time your escort will be worth more than it is now, the FRS will depreciate a fair whack I would imagine. Escos will always be a legend, FRS Mk1/2 etc will always be the car that ford never had the balls to make properly

have you not owned a nice one then? if a cars looked after well and not pushed to its limits then theres no reson it shouldnt serve you well, the focus rs wont be a classic ford in my eyes, they stopped making them when they stopped production of the escos

Thats the funniest thing I've read in a long while. Do you work for the Ford Sales / Marketing department ? They want to know if your going to Pay cash or Credit.

Why is everyone comparing the new FRS....to the Escort Cosworth ??
I don't remember this when the last FRS came out.. totally different cars its only a upto date replacement for the old Escort and Focus RS Turbo's

Its not excatly a homologation rally special like the Escort Cosworth was is it?

Like every FWD RS after the Series 1 its pure Ford marketing and bring up the brand name and ranges

ermmm not really.

Cossie is an escort ith a body kit , most have chassis legs like rizza paper. You dont get what i'm saying.. even if they are looked after the break down. The engineering is 20 years old on most cars... engines have moved on a loooong way. Who wants a car to tip Toe around in.. Cossies are dead... IMO

Give me a fresh modern car anyday.

Sorry but you are talking rubbish, yes there are a lot of neglected cossies around, but if looked after and tuned correctly they are perfectly reliable, and they are so easy to work on that if somthing does go down ( normally a cheap sensor) then they are easy to fix.

Also the Escort Cosworth shell was a handmade item by karmen, so hardly "an Escort with a body kit" is it? ......

having owned cosworths for the last 8 years I fear you are talking out of your arse

Fiesta RST you mean...

but yes agree.

Its a nice fast hatch back.

I don't like FWD so have no interest...

but its not a car to compare with an ESCOS.

Its VASTLY superior in some ways and can't compete in others.

Different cars.

Utter pish, yes the engineering is older but can be brought up to date, closed loop, coilpacks etc, certainly don't tip toe around in mine neither do a lot of people of here.

havin never owned a cosworth i completely agree with this guy...........NOT!

go on youtube mate and find me a video where someone says this is my escort cosworth, i like to drive it round at a snails pace everywhere just incase it breaks down. basically your saying that any cosworth is dead, any mk1, mk2, mk3, mk4 escorts, anything over 20 years old is dead, your talking out of your arse, i know of many cars out there that would rape the living shit out of the new focus rs, it may look nice, but fords balls shrunk after they made the escos, and no ford will ever beat it imo.

Escos everytime, the escos has permant statues and a certain amount of kudos, where as there will be another FWD ford ,in a few more years slightly better , faster than the last.

There will never be another Ford Cosworth again , look after what you've got and reap the benefits in years to come.

You are comparing 2 completely different cars, as said before you should be comparing this to an s1 or an s2 where it beats them both hands down!!

I'm new ford through and through but i'd never sell an escos for a focus rs no matter how nice it was!!

it'd be like selling a sniper rifle for a hand gun and still be expecting to cap people 1.22 miles away
