Default MPG on a small turbo escos

Just been offered a near standard petrol blue escos as a deal on my X5, what sort of mpg do they get and how reliable would one be as an every day user .

mate recently bought one and its boggo standard, he says its pretty reasonable as a day to day car!

Q is though do you WANT the hassle of 2 esc cossies? i wouldnt! it'd feel PISS slow too!

I wouldn't use my smt esc cos as a daily runner full stop..

doesn't do them any good at all scared of leaving them in car parks, shopping trolley dings etc
as for mpg low 20's around town

A friend of mine reckons his standard one does around 33mpg but I think that was a mixture of motorways and town driving

I'm thinking of using my BT stage 3 as a daily runner which is currently doing about 10mpg due to the ancient bayjoo chip but will be sorting this asap

Youth, why doesn't it do it any good? I've always thought using a car often and keeping up with regular maintainance is perfectly fine. I see your point about other people damaging them etc though

Thats my main problem could i put up with two old fords, saying that i have not had any problems with my car that havent been related to upping the power. It would just get used as a daily car and get left where ever as it would only ow me the same as the x5.

I know of a few people that use their ST every day with no issues. Fuel won't be great but they are up to the job. Just be careful where u leave it.

sat in my garage under a sheet means only I can knock against it run a trolley into it etc, I don't have mine sat in the garage all the time I do use it I just like to know where it's parked when it's out.

I dont use mine all that much but i see between 25-30 mpg just driving it around locally. Would never use one as an everyday car though. As said, too risky leaving it anywhere out of sight.

i used my ST esc cos daily for 5 years,it never missed a beat in that time.the most reliable car i've ever had!!.....The only worrying thing was leaving it in a car park and dreading some fat cappuccino drinking cow in her X5 wearing the darkest Prada sun glasses parking next to me and leaving me with a new swage line

True, its just the escort cossie probably has 100 times more chance of getting damaged/nicked/vandalised.

I remember when i used to take mine to work on nice days every now and then. I could see it from where i was working and used to have my own 'double space' in the car park. Soon knocked it on the head though cos nearly every customer who came in, used to be looking round it, underneath it, inside it and it used to be full of mucky finger prints all over the glass. Had 2 dodgy looking characters looking round it one day and they came back another day hanging around outside so that was the last time i took it. Yes i knew they wouldnt be able to nick it as id have seen/heard them, but its vandalising it and doing the damage 'trying' to get it thats the problem.

Such a shame really, but i suppose its always going to be the same with cars like this.

Couldn't agree more as I'm always paranoid when I leave mine anywhere due to idiots who have no respect for people's property

it would be nice to use one as an everyday car but i would be the same as everyone else,i would be scared to leave it any where in case someone damaged it. When i had my old sierra hatchback that was parked at morrisons and i came out and the front bumper what lying on the floor with the glass from the headlight. Someone had hit it and pissed off. I would be gutted if i had a escos and it happened the that.

if it would have been a bmw they still would have drove off. i dont understand peoples mentality when they say i wouldnt want to drive it incase it gets damged, would want to park it up incase someon nicks it..

cars get damged and nicked evryday wether it be bmw, vauxhalls, mercedes.. i understand that a escos is more vunerable to being nicked but at the same time why own a car just for a couple hours use a weekend.

I cleaned my x5 this morning and took some pics, it cleaned up that well i did have second thoughts.
Boring might be a good thing less chance of me messing about with it , saying that the one i want to go look at has coilovers and 18" comps on it already.
