It's a frients car, with Custom Cages cage i think, it has 3 mounting points on each side and 4 i think at the back. All fixed to the spaceframe.

Proper job , and tidy i think.

Its only running a bar of boost... what can I safely turn the T3 upto? at 1bar its horribly slow! Can you run 2bar on a T3?

Ross, I bet it doesn't break 5 secs to 60! let alone 3.8!!!! Will Datron time it...

The upsides are it feels well built and fun and nice gearchange and rides well.

Downsides are its gutless and has a silly silly loud dumpvalve

BUT Its not going to be getting a nutty engine I am afraid or a sequential box...

Its just a CHEAP bit of fun for summer evenings down some lanes and the occasional little fun trackday.

It will be getting the RAC rollover bar likes Stus as thats only Ł200 ish... and thats IT!

I'm even going to keep the same wheels! and just put on a set of R888 tyres

Its going to be budget racing!

I won't be hammering around tracks at Patrick pace unfortunately, but its not going to cost the same to run as he did either!

My hopes are to have a different kinda fun on track, going alot slower but MUCH more sideways!!!! so I should learn alot of different driving skills and improve my car control!

I've driven alot of Caterhams before at Palmersport and always loved them so thought this would be a little cheap toy and with the Cossie lump it should still be fast enough in a straight line.

Its not meant to replace Patrick. Nothing could I loved that car sooooooooo much!

Its just meant to be something different and fun and CHEAP!

AND its something I can hopefully learn to work on myself and have my first go at some basic car matinence

Nothing wrong with a budget(ish) track car, thats what my Saff is ment to be .

But the roll cage......i would advise a full one.
I have seen a Westfield (with hoop and the 2 rear sloping bars), after a roll. And it was NOT a pretty picture. Unfortunately i don't have a pic to show you. But it would make you think twice, the hoop was still folded backwards ALOT.

Lee, you might get it to spike to 2 bar but it wont hold it further up the rev range as it simply cant flow enough air, you'll get just over 300bhp out of it and thats basically it for that turbo.

I think its ace you are going to try working on it yourself, give me a shout if you need a hand with anything, always easier if people show you.

Lee it was running 16psi that made the 270 ish hp but i turned it down to 10psi till i got use to it then back upto 14, i marked the bleed valve so turn it back till the two marks are in line for 16psi, id prob say its about 250hp at the min? Stick at set of greens & a 3bar map sensor & stage 3 chip on it & im sure with 300ish it will be quick enough for you to practise in

Yep, thats the ones.

Secondhand T34 will cost you 400 quid ish
Injectors couple of hundred
Chip couple of hundred

That'll see you running about 370bhp or so realistically

Ie about 50% more than you have at the moment on 14psi

COOL car !

Atleast when Maria blows a boost pipe in this one it won't be such a job to find

Stage 3 on a T34 , 3.9:1 cwp (if its on a 7.5 cossy diff) and let it have it, cars like that are proper drivers cars, maybe not as powerful as Patrick but I'd imagine with 350hp point to point it will be mentally fast

ditto everyone else, slap a 3bar, chip, and some injectors in (order today, arrive tomorrow and even you can DIY that!) then find yourself a turbo and suitable cooler

The 4x4 intercooler is also slightly bigger. I ran one of those with the Norris Gunship for a year and that was quite impressive.

I wouldn't worry about changing turbo's just yet! if the car is only running 10psi then it will be shit. The difference between that and a 2 bar spike will be like night and day, as i'm sure you're aware lol.

Lee, as this is supposed to be a CHEAP car, why dont you come up with a total budget to spend on upping the power, and then have a thread on here asking for suggestions on how to best get reliable power from the YB for whatever that budget is.

If you DONT put a "I have 1556 pounds and 27 pence" finite limit on what you are going to spend, it WILL end up being 10 grand!

How will it not be fast?

Do you not remember how silly fast John Felstead's one was round track with 330 bhp?

Remember when you get bored to give me first refusal - I was eyeing that up in the for sale section this week!

Intercooling is a real pain..........but we are lucky as I have been there, seen it, had it made, tried it, thrown it away, started again etc with just about everything needed for a top spec car!

Cant wait to start to teach Lee new words like spanner, socket set and cable ties!

Got some work to do on mine tonight for TOTB, I want more boost in 3rd gear onwards for the straight line runs!!!!!!!

I think the combined escos IC and CC will be too big (length wise), maybe easier getting Pro Alloy to make something purpose built........

Standard 4wd intercoolers change hands for about 50 quid, and will cool stage 3 power down just fine.

Wether they fit in that thing I dont know, but worth looking at as a cheap option.
