newbie
Hi i've been looking on here for a few weeks and thought i would say hello.
I have always been a car nut, But my main love has to be the blue oval.
From a young age i was always going with my dad to work or knee deep in mud at rally's around the counrty blowing me whisle as a marshal. While my dad was driving the chash car for a friend.
When i was old enough i brought my first car, It was a mk2 escort 1.3., which me and my dad put a x-pack on and some 13 inch minalites.
In 97 my dad was offered a job to look after a group-a escort cosworth for geoff smith.
Then in 99 geoff brought a ex m-sport wrc escort cosworth which me and my dad drove up to cumbria to collect.
It was one of the first test cars which was in a darkish blue and still lhd.
The first job was to make it rhd and paint it, Which went to brosters in essex and had it srayed white.

The car was in the btrda and mintex rally's against drivers like, Roger duckworth, Steve petch, Marcos dodd, Andy burton.
After six big crashes and having to send it to brusters every time to be re built. It got to the point that geoff's dad said no more money after costing over 1 million in one year having it re built every time.
The last event was a rally in norway when he was flat out in 7th and hit a hole, It backed in to tree's and split the fuel cell and destroyed the car.
After that my dad went to autocross and worked for john cross building the space frames for the rally cross cars and hot rods.
But left after a year and went back to working on normal cars again.
we got talking to a close family friend barry guess who is in charge of sutton&chem motor club.
We got talking about mark welch who had a group-a car and could we help him out running it.
So we went to mewla in wales and finished 4th and was marks best result to date.

Not long after mark had a big crash at long cross in chertsey, With the car needing a re shell mark found a wrc rolling shell from dome.
So we spent months building the new car which had the group-a engine and six speed r&d box.

Running full wrc spec suspension and 9 inch diff's
And in 2000 i was taken to my wedding in the world car.

The vicor didn't take to well to the anti-lag
That car was sold on and another group-a car was brough with wrc front and rear bumpers.

We stopped rallying with mark to start a new project with a friend in his mk2.
So after a year re building it with a pinto and 5 linked the rear axel.

My dad was the co driver and our friend martin was driving.
we had a 2.0 n/a yb built with a type 9 straight cut box we where soon right up on the seeding instead of being in the 40's we where in the top 8.
Even winning the first stage with the new engine in the car.

In late 2002 my dad took his own life and for a few years i was a zombie.
Most of my pictures of the cars and re builds where stolen from my car and i had to dig about to find some pictures taken at events.
Then one day i saw a picture of a r33 gtr lm at a show and fell in love with it and my love for cars was sparked again.
loving the feel of the car and how quick it went was amazing.

I had the car just over a year before she blow up after running 615 bhp at 1.6 bar on standard internals.
So i sold her on and got a r32 gtr which was stage one which was alot smoother and faster on spool up.

I left the jap side about two years ago and have had a st170 till six months ago and now have a mondeo for running around in.
So thats a rough story of my love for cars and my dad who to this day is still my hero, And hope i can do him proud with my children.

I'm in surrey near guildford, Thanks for all the comments guys.
The muppet room is by far the funniest place i've been, It's good that everyone gets on and love there cars instead of moaning about if the cars are tubbed or modded dirrerent and beat other peoples times.
Where in here it doesn't matter what you do everyone enjoys there cars and love seeing things done different.
