Default Focus St Meant to be fast?!

my missus wasComing down bristol ring roads, yesterday and 2 young lads were trying to terrorise her in her mk4 golf turbo (superchipped, panel filter) so we started playing and i swear down, it was like he was going backwards and beleive me these boys were trying hard, as at the start they were hanging out the window taunting us, has anyone else had any encounters with these motors as it really was embarresing 4 them

cant of been a real ST if they looked like they were going backwards lol

you do realise to 'properly' beat a car like that, your/her car would need one hell of a lot more power
than the other car has got.. lol.

1.8T motor so that's 150bhp and with a chip and panel filter I doub't it'll be putting out much over 190bhp.

I know my 1.8T Audi with filter, exhaust and chip only nudges 180bhp.

i think the graph said with the chip on its on 186bhp and with the filter probably close to 190 i spose but the bhp isnt what its about half the time, the torque is really good, and we have made a few cars look silly, good on my missus, love watching blokes getting the hump because they are getting nailed by a girl!

Mine made 199lb/ft torque on my mates Dyno Dynamics rolling road. I agree that they can surprise people but they're still no fireball.

What you want is an Outlaw SPX51 turbo and a nice remap. A guy has done this on an Audi forum I used and made 243bhp

There are qute a few ST replicas around mate. Either pukka ST kit or possibly a Wolf kit. Could've been anything really but I would've expected a standard ST to stay AT LEAST with you if not beat you.

A standard Focus ST is all about mid-range. Top end is not a lot although they will hit 155mph eventually, but being a 5-cylinder Volvo T5 engined vehicle with 6 speeds, they take a lot to keep up with if driven "correctly", i.e. in the powerbands.

Yet an Astra VXR is quicker on pull away and top end, but lousy on the 30-70 times compared to the Focus.

A K03s equipped car will make circa 190bhp no probs.

My current AUM engined work hack Golf is having some treatement soon.

you would not beat a new foccy ST i had an a3 with the same engine, remap, decat pipe, BMC induction kit, and my a3 couldn't beat an ST and i think the a3 would be lighter then the golf too?

i can just about manage to pull away from them in my CTR now and your not trying to tell me you remapped golf could be as quick as a CTR

Ive tested a focus st turbo and it deffenetly is 6,5sec 0-60 and wery fast throu the gears, even tested it against my current passat 1,8t with chip decat filter and frontmount i/c and it just is way faster then my passat, so cant be a turbo one

If it was the newer shape model then it defintely wasn't an ST. My mate has the 170bhp Golf V5 (mk4) and another of my friends has the newer ST and his car makes the Golf looking like it's going backwards....

And your car isn't exactly "tuned" if it has a chip and panel filter, so against even a stock Focus ST it's not gonna win any prizes

6.5 is whats quoted. Bound to be a bit slower than a S4.
