Season starts for us on the 16th Aug against Bolton. We play Newcastle Town FC in a friendly this Friday with a worst squad than when we got promotion with.
Tony pulis is a great manager IMO but he said yesterday in not so many words that he's up against it because nobody wants to come to Stoke (i can see why tbh)
We have loads of money to play with even including the promotional money but cant get the players..
Spose you cant polish a turd as they say.... best thing we can hope for is being a yoyo club
yep.... the bubble of being promoted has been burst.
just being realistic........... fucking gutted
and the season has not started yet

come on, you was fucked as soon as the final whistle went in your final game, as are west brom and especially hull. the gap between championship and prem is far too big these days and unless you got a shit load of cash to blow on at least 5/6 quality premiership standard footballers you aint gonna do nothing.
enjoy your season and build for having an excellent championship season 09/10 season.

just remember where port vale are and how they must be choking on their oat cakes
its stoke and not them playing in the prem.
i would not start paying daft money for players out of desperation though

I can see you boys struggling this season. Might be very similar to Derby last season.
WBA will do OK. They play nice stuff, have a bit of Premier experience and have a great manager.
Hull are in trouble too, but they might go with the Bolton-style and get a few brassy wins.
I really hope Boro go down. I can't stand watching them on TV. And Southgate is a bell-end.

whatever scott carson did (going down to stoke etc) he was never going to sign for them permanently, just putting himself in the public window. there defo aint 18 other premiership clubs who would not want him.

Same thing happened with Sunderland last year but they had Keane who is known all over the world so helped a bit in attracting players to a newly promoted side but they still spent loads on mainly shit. Stoke just have to raid the championship teams and Premiership teams reserves and hope for the best. Then next year they will get phone some calls returned.
You get about Ł30m from the season even if you finish bottom so worth spending it to stay in.

He's not going to guarantee success, but he's a decent signing IMO. Touch on the pricey side, I would have said at Ł4million he would have been a good buy, but hopefully will set the ball rolling a bit for Stoke

Haven't you just splashed out 5.5mil on Kitson?
TBH i think all three that come up will go back down, I'd love Hull to stay up, but if it's them or us, they can go.
People are calling them the Bolton blueprint - when we first came up we went straight back down, and weren't into the lob the ball forward set up we became famous for.
Anyway - fingers crossed, we'll hopefully be clear of relagation by Easter.

Nice building that, not been inside yet. You help build the workshop too?
I work at Toyota just up the road (same owners/dealership as Lexus Stoke)
If you had asked for Joe @ Bristol street Ford he would have sorted you out no probs

was quite funny reading these posts again.... retrospect and all that.
Quietly confident at the moment... Newcastle on Saturday is a massive game.
I'll come back here on Saturday afternoon
